Alex Smith to visit Miami.

Plot twist! Not exactly a good twist, but still a twist. It only took him 7 years to have 1 vaguely competent year while being hidden by the coaching staff. That's enough for Ireland to break the bank. Or this could just be a negotiating tactic with Flynn. Or they feel Smith is better than Flynn, which means Flynn has a nice CFL career ahead of him.

Is there realy anybody out there, who is thinking, that Alex Smith is a Franchise-Quarterback?!?
MAYBE he is a little bit better than Moore. Maybe!
But he is still miles away to be a Franchise-Quarterback!

Flynn is at least rolling the dices: Maybe he is a Franchise-Quarterback. Maybe he isn't good enough even to get the starting-job. But at least there is the chance, that he is the Franchise-QB. Which is Alex Smith by sure NOT!

Maybe he isn't but if Flynn is demanding a lot more than he is worth then this puts pressure on him if he really wants to play here.

Yeah, well if you project out MMoore's stats over 16 games (as opposed to the 13 he played in), his stats were better than Smith...

At least Flynn has some upside...does Smith ?? Does MMoore ?? I hope this isn't Ireland flexing his muscles and playing chicken with the guy that his coach wants....

His coach may want to take a look as well.

Bringing in Smith could be good tactic for smith & the dolphins.
Dolphins put preasure on Flynn to make a decision.
And Smith puts preasure on the 49ers to make a decision.

Yea it's cool that we are exploring all options but it also means things aren't going according to plan. Players that other teams want dont want to play for us so now we are talking to cast aways. I still blame Ireland for everything. Still don't know why he wasn't ousted with tony. we can't b rebuilding if we still have Ireland. So folks we aren't rebuilding, the building is falling apart and it hasn't even been built fully yet

Smith was very good last year. If he can maintain that or improve then I'm all for it, but that was really his only good year since he has been in the league.

Wow, talk about out of left field. Never really considered Smith an option, but the whole Manning thing must have pissed him off.

Let's see if Flynn lowers his asking price as Seattle could be interested in Alex Smith as well.

I can not see the idea by picking Alex Smith up. It would be unrealistic to think that he could perform equally well in our offence as he did last season for the 9'ers. He has finally found a system that works for him to take it away will not necessarily make him better. I think the opposite.

Smith was playing for a bad team with a bad coach up untill last year.it was like what fat tony did to his qb's down here.perhaps a change in teams would actually help him .im all in if flynn cant lower his asking price.i would be open to bringing in vince young as well if flynn cant lower his price.i know alot of people on here want nothing to do with vy but just maybe he can come down here on a one year deal sit behind moore and learn then perhaps just be the guy the following year .

Not only does this put pressure on Flynn, but it also forces Seattle to turn their attention to Smith if the reports are true that they are interested.

I don't like the idea of signing Smith, but it may be a good power play... could backfire for all I know.
