All is not lost. We can hang with the big dogs and learn from this win.

dude stop pullin your link.. our team's not ready-to-rumble with contenders... we lack; at LB, at TE, at CB & S.. and most importantly, at HC & GM.. real talk

Here's the thing: even if you believe that Miami played a good game against a playoff caliber team that won a championship a couple of years back and has an all-time great QB playing some of his best ball, you can't escape the fact that the Dolphins are 2-3 with some tough games in the coming weeks.

Yesterday, we had a chance to steal a win as an underdog playing against an elite quarterback. We blew it. The only lesson we learned from yesterday, IMO, is that we play small in big situations.

We all knew 2 things were gonna happen on that last play....it was either a pass or rodgers was taking it himself and they let phillip wheeler cover a tight end, he looked pathetic on that play.

Now that's fair. There were mistakes made both on the sideline and on the field that you could argue did cost us the game. There's also things that were very encouraging for the future if you want to see them. It depends on what side of the seat you want to be on. Either way you would not be wrong.

here's the thing... if you call time out to set the D, and you have a TO in the bucket.. why not check the set, and get Wheeler off the field?? and why (if he, the player) thought the playcall was wrong; why did HE not signal Philbin/Coyle and ask for a TO??

No one can argue with this assessment.
The return of some guys really helped
The team is making baby steps forward unfortunately it may not be fast enough to salvage the season.

You tell me what those encouraging things are.

Here's what I got:

1. Jarvis Landry and Ja'Wuan James were good 1st and 2nd round draft picks and if the coaching staff pulls its head out of its ass and puts Landry on the field, both will be MAJOR contributors as rookies.
2. We're scoring the most points per game we've averaged since Don Shula was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
3. Our quarterback has gone from having bad games to having bad halves.

Lost in half of the board screaming that Tannehill and Lazor suck, we're averaging 24 points per game. Now you can argue that that's not great in today's NFL, and you'd be right, but it's also the best we've had in twenty freaking years.

I guess you can be positive and encouraged about that, but the end result is the same: blowing that game in the final two minutes makes it very unlikely that we will have a playoff berth.

There is enough talent to be a playoff team. We should have been in last year. We have talent. Two things that are stunting the team's growth from taking that next step is coaching and QB play. When I say coaching I am primarily talking about leadership from our HC. We have some good coaches on staff. Both line coaches are real good for example. Lazor is still too raw as a OC to make a valid judgment although I like his attitude. He needs time to develop his craft. When I say QB play I am referring to accuracy and consistency. RT has some skills but I'm not sure he can gain these two.

1.Play of Landry and James I agree.
2.While the OL as a whole wasn't great yesterday, they're still doing solid work.
3.Development of Lamar Miller this year including taking a swing pass for extra yards that he would have dropped in years past or even earlier this year.
4.Tannehill bouncing back from an awful half to have a very very good second half.
5.Caleb Sturgis rebounding
6.The Pass Rush of the team
7.The team tends to make decent adjustments offensively coming out of the half

As for negatives? There are those as well.
1.Of the 5 games we've played we have had exactly one good first half (Oakland).
2.Wheeler still can't cover
3.As of right now for various reasons we are getting nothing from the tightend position
4.Finnegan and Grimes were both bad
5.Defense still tends to have bad missed tackles
6.We had an awful 3 and out when we could have iced the game
7.We messed up on defense even if Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL.
8.We have lost 2 home games.

Again there are good and bad and I will not fault anybody for being on either side of the fence. While there were encouraging things, I also feel that Joe Philbin has shown enough for me to know that unless he goes undefeated the rest of the regular season and wins at least one playoff game that he will not/should not be back as the head coach next season.

To be fair, that last drive wasn't a 3 and out. We got 2 first downs. One on a pass to Landry and the other on a penalty.

How do you like our chances against Chicago? This is one where I think the matchups say that we're screwed, but I fully expect Miami to find a way to win it, only to choke against Jacksonville the week after.

So when tom bradyhits his easy throws (like he did to welker forma ny years) hes just "not playing bad"....do u see how stupid your ass backwards logic is? You make the plays that are there to be made, so yes i thought he played well in the 2nd half and led us to 3 tds.

If it's so stupid and backwards, you should have no trouble explaining why then (something you continually avoid). And yes, when Tom Brady hits easy throws, he isn't doing anything impressive. Same goes for everyone, in anything. Achieving something mediocre is by definition mediocre...

Of course you make the plays that are there to be made, and Tannehill gets credit for that, but the credit is that of something that your average QB should be able to do.

Why are u so hung up on "easy throws"?? Ive been saying the whole time who ****ing cares, he made the throws he had to to lead 3 scoring drives and getting lead...

This is a game I think the defense could get gassed in. Not only are the Receivers and Tightend mismatches, but Forte is a huge weapon in the passing game as well. While I trust Misi and Jenkins to deal with him, I get the feeling we'll match him up with Wheeler a lot.

That being said, much like the Packers game, there will be opportunities for our offense to make plays. And unlike the Packers, the Bears QB is good for anywhere from 1 to 5 boneheaded plays so there will be chances to get short fields or defensive touchdowns. But we gotta start getting more consistency from the team.

How many moral victories, close to beating a good team, should haves, almost wons, and learning experiences do you need to make the playoffs?
if we get to 4 learning experiences, 3 almosts, and 2 should haves we own the wild breaker tiebreaker bc a should have carries more weight than Buffalo's would have in that scenario.
If a 3 way tie with Buffalo and Baltimore- Baltimore gets it with their head to head learning experience.
We would have to almost sweep the division with should haves, and so close, and refs screwed us to win division but its still possible.
