Alright I'm gonna say it........

it doesnt matter who our qb is this year. if our oline sucks again, our qb will suck.

Very well put. If our QB has to run for his life after taking a three step drop, then thats not his fault

I don't think Dilfer applies here...he had arguably the very best defense in the history of the NFL...

Feidler is a serviceable backup...nothing more. He has tons of guts and heart but he is not a very good qb...plain and simple.

 Jay had 8 Pro Bowlers, the leagues leading rusher and the leagues leading sacker, the NFL's 3rd ranked defense and he couldn't get us into the playoffs.

Please enough with the Fiedler garbage, this team is headed finally in the right direction, and part of that was getting rid of noodlearm.

I'am NOT backing JF, but he's not any worse than what we have now. Jay's NOT the answer, I never said he was. Out of those 8 pro bowlers, how many in one year? Hell, in 95 we had what 8-9 1st rounders on our team? Guess Marino and Shula sucked too.

Jay Fiedler would give us a better chance at winning than our other QBs. We had to cut him cause he was scheduled to make way too much, but he still would be better than these two. Say what you want about him, he won football games for us. He did better without RW, and during those 4 years that he was starting, he had a better winning pct. than most starting Qbs. He simply did what was needed to win. He played with guts and I do wish we had him starting for us.

I'll be honest. I just got tired of Fiedler. I think Griese should have been given more of a chance by the way, but that's Wanny, not Fiedler. I think Fiedler is a great character guy and an ok QB, more of a backup. The trade was good for us and for him because both needed a fresh start.

But do remember this. Fiedler had an ok winning percentage with some pretty good teams. Did you ever notice all people say is "Well he wins games, look at his win loss record."? Does anyone see that there's a possibility that we won many games despite our QB instead of because of our QB? I don't expect Fiedler to go out and win many for his team, he's just not a superstar and that's ok. But I don't think people should believe that he's the reason the Fins had some pretty good win loss records.

The best thing I think we can say is that he handled being the guy after Marino with a lot of class. A difficult situation for sure.

winning percentage is a team thing, not a quarterback thing. Jay Fiedler is not good. He is about as good as Gus.

A theory well proven by the Ears Era.

I hope I'm wrong but I think Fiedler is better than Gus and AJ as well, and I think he may have been a better fit for the team now because of his mobility. But saying that, he wasn't going to take us to the SB and it was time he left.

I agree with you on this. I kinda wish Griese was here now in this system and see if he could do anything. Jay/AJ/Gus/Sage, really their all the same. They are just like Dilfer, not going to win it for you, except for a few times.

Jay was fine so long as the defense or run game was doing ok, but on the occasion the defense broke down and the run was keyed on, Jay could not step up consistently and make plays needed to get the other units going. I disagree with many is Jay was not solely responsible for our failures, but he could not be relied to be that guy that could pick the team when it needed him to the most. AJ may not either, but he needs to be given the opportunity to show it. Gus is better than Jay in that he can throw deep.

The 2002 team had everything I described, and they accomplished it that year, yet they didn't make the playoffs.

Now your talking, Griese is the one I wish was still here.
