An article about C-Alonzo Ephraim

From what I can tell, he was released on April 28.

There's got to be a reason why he didn't sign anywhere until now.

usually it comes down to 3 things..

1) weight

2) possibly injury that is there, might be there, will always be there type of thing.

3) lazy attitude/not a hard worker.

eh..not until he proves something here, there is no reason to be excited

yeah 6'4 is big for a Centre. Hadnot for me but he may be solid backup.

He also played G at Philly, so he could backup St. Clair. Versatility.

the funny thing is that in madden i did a fantasy draft and i decidd to have some fun and pick all the worst players to give me a challange for the franchise mode and he was my starting center and he made the probowl 2 out of 3 seasons and he improved rapidly, idk he did good for me on madden i hope he can do the same here

This guy is a mountain!!! Nice signing indeed...
I can't wait to see him in action!!

They called him Mt. Ephraim in Philly, named after a town in Jersey.
I think we should call him the "A-Frame"

Named after the Jewish tribe Ephriam. Mount Ephriam in the hills of Judea, from whence the name Jew came from - the promised land baby - we got it and it makes em CRAZE EYE!

I don't know why you think that 6'4" is tall for a center. Someone else also made the comment in another thread about St.Clair that he is too tall at 6'5" to be an effective center. These days, there are 6'4" and taller centers throughout the NFL that are good solid starters at the very least: Matt Birk, Vikings, 6'4", Mike Flanagan, Green Bay, 6'5", Andy McCollum, Rams, 6'4", Kevin Mawae, Jets, 6'4", Jeff Mitchell, Panthers, 6'4", Jeremy Newberry, 49ers, 6'5", Casey Rabach, Redskins, 6'4", Chris Spencer, Seattle, 6'4", Robbie Tobeck, Seattle, 6'4", John Wade, Tampa, 6'5", Al Johnson, Dallas, 6'4".
Off just that list we have Birk, Newberry and Mawae who are all among the top 5 centers in the league today.

He must be or have been in bad shape or rehabbing. From what I've seen the last 2 years watching the birds, he's certainly good enough to be on someone's roster. He looked more solid than Smith or McKinney, but I don't know that I would attribute it to him having more talent, or just being surrounded by a very good offensive line in Philly where he wasn't asked to do it all by himself. That unit was well-coached and you didn't see guys get abused or look lost like we had for most of last year. At minimum, he's a big, strong guy, who won't get overpowered repeatedly. He may have some trouble in space, but maybe HH can help with that. Hopefully it pans out and he brings some competition for Seth and Wade.

This seems to me to be a message to Seth that he needs to step it up at either G or C if he wants to land a job even as a reserve on this team. If the team had signed a guy who was just a C, I wouldn't feel that way. I think Nick looked for guys who had the versatility because he values it and because he could couch what very well may be a move to bring in another guard as a move to bring in a center to replace Wade Smith.
