For those saying that McDonald had a motive to make these statements...he was nameless until HE came forward and gave a name to "player A".

This report, until he stepped forward and made these comments, had not named him or implicated him in any way. In fact most of us thought they were referring to Samuda.

So no, unless his name is player A, he had no reason to try and save his position as a practice squad player.

Actually, the report only named him as Player A. It was the releases by Incognito's lawyer -- which contained some of the same information/quotes as Wells' report but named McDonald specifically -- that "outed" him.

Whatever is being said now really has little to no bearing on the report. If Mcdonald was interviwed we have no clue what he said to the investigator.
The investigation Im sure wasn't just Ted Wells talking to MArtin. If this investigation had said that Martin made this up people would be claiming how this proves MArtin is this and that.
Lets just clean up the damn locker room and move on. Wells was hired by the NFL to investigate this and its over so it is what it is.

McDonald was named as Player A not long after the report came out. He may have not been offended by what went on, but don't think for one minute there is not a motive for his agent to release this statement.

This is actually a pretty big development. One of the alleged victims of the report has come out and denied there being an issue. Also sounds like Mr. Wells had his story already decided before even talking to Andrew McDonald, that is definitely a head scratcher. If Mr. Wells embellished the results in the matter involving McDonald, makes you wonder if there are any other inaccuracies or embellishments in the report.

What really bothers most of us is that the other side is left out of the equation in stating facts. Like the Yacht scene makes it sound like they had a fight, when it could have been him giving a noogie to Mrs. Loopner and giving him little punches to the ribs.

Like why would he beat the guy up and show up to workouts and such with black eye's and such. Its not what it appeares in reality.

And I kinda hope this goes to court becuse the other side of things would have to defend assertions made by Incog camp.

Or maybe McDonald told Wells everything he released in his statement and he did not see that in the report. I would be upset if I gave testimony or or was asked questions pertaining to the report and did not see them in said report. I would then issue a statement reiterating my position.

I think everybody needs to listen to Doug Gottlieb on the topic. For those that don't know Gottlieb was a college basketball player that has become a pretty good college basketball analyst. But he also has made a lot of mistakes in life. He basically said that after reading the Wells report, he heard a lot of the same things, if not worst, from teammates and occasionally coaches. He said he personally just used it as motivation to get better. But he also pointed out what some see as harmless joking others don't.

He also compares Jonathan Martin to Royce White. White was a very talented player from Iowa State in basketball who was drafted in the first round by the Houston Rockets 2 years ago. He suffered from sever OCD (which is not always as simple as needing everything to be in a proper place) and also anxiety disorder that included a crippling fear of flying. White's career to this point never got going because of his mental issues, and Gottlieb said in a lot of ways the Martin situation proves that the NFL and people in the locker room aren't quite ready to deal with people with mental issues.

He should of been fired because of the ****ty play of the o-line all season. The incident is just icing on the cake.

I wouldn't argue with that at all. Also, he lied to investigators. There's no way his goose isn't cooked after lying to Wells more than once.

As for McDonald's statement, people on all 'sides' of this thing are quick to jump to discredit this or that person. I think it's entirely plausible that a straight guy wasn't mortally offended by jokes about whether or not he was gay and didn't contemplate suicide over receiving a blow-up doll as a gag gift.

As much as I think this story is overblown and I've played enough sports to know about the joking that goes on, there was some extreme behavior going on in that locker room. There was a reason Cogs had the reputation he had in this league and wasn't exactly a hot property when we signed him. I wonder if it had any impact on the strange case of our younger, unestablished lineman never stepping up and fighting for their opportunities to play.

Fun fact... Ted represented Scooter Libby who snitched on Valerie Plame (a CIA Agent).

...Beyond that, I find troubling that Martin was quick to be "interviewed" by an alumni of his parents Harvard Law School yet refused to be likewise interviewed by the Union which was not necessarily going in having one players interests favored over the other. To me his refusal was telling and part of a contrived campaign...

However, there is a list of reasons he would do so.
Like for starters he would like his new team to know he is not gay (since he is not).
Anyway, the stuff in the report is not good regardless.

A guy like that, further, does not need any questions surrounding him. He just wants to play.

I am pretty sure with the culture of the NFL locker room being what it is, the players on the Carolina Panthers already knows if McDonald was gay or not.

The fact that by the time Wells approached McDonald, he had all the information needed for his report, tells me much of what I need to know.

If you don't think many of the players in the locker room don't know who is or who is not gay, then you are sadly mistaken. Many of the players on the 1972 Washington Redskins knew about star tight end Jerry Smith homosexuality but kept it to themselves in a similar fashion the way Michael Sam's Missouri teammates did for him.

That's the issue - people are making calls that are inappropriate for players with mental health problems. Think about it, Ireland and his group could identify talent but Martin, Incognito, Brandon Marshall and Davone Best all had mental health related issues. Marshall has been open about his borderline personality disorder (which I understand is extremely difficult to deal with). Bess has effectively imploded over the past year and his career is in tatters. Incognito was a known alpha dog sociopath long before he came to Miami.
Whatever we were doing to assess the mental health of players wasn't very good because we got a disproportionate share of the major problems.
While Ireland talked a good game about recruiting good character players, he should also have looked at their mental health. I can see teams appointing psychologists to assess the mental health of all players. They might give them a fancy title, but their role will be to assess all players and coaches.
Some will probably say that this is crazy, just play ball, but the really good Head Coaches are probably already skilled in this capacity of evaluation.

J-Mart's Dad is Professor Gus Martin. He graduated from Harvard as well. Presumably, he's around the same age.
Everyone fixates on J-Mart's Mom and she is clearly brilliant to be the Assistant General Counsel for Toyota US. Make no mistake, she's in the big time. However, his Dad is also outstanding in his own right. He has a Juris Doctorate and a PhD in Criminal Justice. His expertise is in Terrorism and Homeland Security and in addition to his teaching has written a number of books on the subject of Homeland Security.
I still believe that Mom and Dad are just supportive parents and they could see their 312 lb 6'5" son unravelling and wanted to help him.
