Observations from Dolphin Digest editor Andy Cohen after one preseason game – a 28-23 victory -- and only 11 practices to prepare:
Chad Henne made some mistakes early against the Falcons. The first interception wasn’t his fault; the second one was. But there were two plays at the start of the second quarter that showed significant progress for the fourth-year quarterback.

Not sure I agree that it was okay for Bush not to play b/c "we know what [he] can do".

We actually don't know if he can run between the tackles and be our starting RB. In fact, thus far, he's proven he really can't do that. Other Saints RBs like Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory had no problems running in that offense but Bush never could. Now we're assuming he's a feature back behind a worse OL and with zero passing threat.

Hmmmm......not sure about that.....I know what Michael Turner can do for ATL but he didn't mind showing it in preseason. I don't think Marshall or Bush earned that game off.

I agree and I disagree, I wanted to see Bush out there too. First game with a new team, want to get some chemistry down, but at the same time, I think our coach wanted to get a look at the younger guys because lets be honest, we aren't going to keep 5 running backs on this team, and its a 3 man battle between Hilliard, Sheets, and Grisby, and none of them really stood out yesterday either..

Yeah - I wasn't wowed by any of Hilliard/Sheets/Grigsby. Looks like we still need to add a RB. DT is unproven and Bush is not a feature back just b/c Ireland and Sparano wish him to be one.

Idk, I'm sure our defense will be solid, and I expect Matt Moore (who will be the week 1 starter) might be able to move this offense but ultimately, this team still has the same problems it had before this new regime came in - no QB and a sub par OL.

the chicken littles won't like this.

Because the first place I go for 'impartial' reporting is the Official Dolphins Website... Come on now.

I don't call the 'Henne' lovers, homers.. I call them 'apologists'... I've never seen such propensity to deflect blame and offer apologies and excuses for glaring mistakes... On the Fasano INT... 'It wasn't his fault' hit the airwaves before the play was even blown dead... Henning, Pennington, OL, Receivers, Sparano have all been fall guys for him at one time or another...

You do know it is actually possible to like the guy AND be critical.. Right? The two are not mutually exclusive...

Personally I have not been criticizing the awful second interception but moreso his reaction or 'lack of' to it... he has been a punching bag for the fans and media alike... What does it take for this guy to muster a little intensity??? Where is the accountability??? I don't care if it is preseason or playoffs... He needs to LEAD this team.

I have no clue why we are so precious with this guy... This is a game where paralysis, broken bones and brain damage are par for the course and we treat him like we are handling Grandma's fine china.

Interception is a interception. Why do we have to keep saying it's not his fault. He threw it the guy couldn't hold onto it. Throw a catchable ball how about hitting the guy on the numbers instead of over his shoulder and away

Please, Cohen is is being a shill for the organization once again.

Two good plays do not equal consistency.....not when the rest of your night was that horrible.

How can it be a sign of progress when the Henne on display was the Henne we've seen over his whole career? He'll make a good play, he'll make a bad one or two, thats why he has an upside down touchdown to interception ratio.

Funny thing is the ball hit him in the numbers

imo, they were solid observations and it wasn't all sunshine and lollipops. an apologist wouldn't blame Henne for either INT(see Sparano's post-game presser). it did focus on the positives which some people here don't like at all.
back to Henne, Cohen did point to the two positive plays with quick, decisive and accurate throws. you have to admit we didn't see much of that last year and it is something to build on.

No, I don't have to admit it, Henne has always made some good plays here and there, the problem is the bad play has outweighed the good play......so I see nothing in regard to Henne to build on.

He has been consistently "inconsistent".......thats Chad!
