Andy Cohen: Many Things To Build On

No, I don't have to admit it, Henne has always made some good plays here and there, the problem is the bad play has outweighed the good play......so I see nothing in regard to Henne to build on.

He has been consistently "inconsistent".......thats Chad!

he has also been indecisive and late on throws his entire career. these are two plays that show improvement and that is exactly what you build on.
no one is saying Henne is consistently good, if he was there would be no need to build anything

I agree with Bluefin, we all seen flashes of talent in Chad. Its the mistakes and the lack of taking command of the field. This is chad fourth year in the NFL, he needs to show that he is comfortable and not look wide eyed or lost. He really needs to start taking leadership and if he sees a mistake from a receiver get in his face. If our OL isnt blocking get in their face. Stop accepting failure.

imo, they were solid observations and it wasn't all sunshine and lollipops. an apologist wouldn't blame Henne for either INT(see Sparano's post-game presser). it did focus on the positives which some people here don't like at all.
back to Henne, Cohen did point to the two positive plays with quick, decisive and accurate throws. you have to admit we didn't see much of that last year and it is something to build on.

I'm agreeing in that BOTH extremes are wrong... but I just cannot give that performance a passing grade based on a couple plays... Sorry but hitting a wide open receiver against reserves with busted coverage is not an example of True Grit... At the same time I'm not going to let him swing in the wind on either of those INT's...

Unfortunately I expect those kinds of mistakes... Now wait... I'm NOT kicking sand in his face... Hear me out!! Let's accept what he is and what he isn't... He will make those mistakes and it is up to those around him to help him MINIMIZE them... Bess has to HELP his QB and that BEGINS with running the correct route... I truly can't blame Henne for trying to manufacture something from nothing... But he can't let Bess off the hook... He cannot just take a bullet for him and this is what worries me most... He has got to start making guys accountable...

last year on occasion Fasano, Hartline and Marshall publicly showed up their QB by demonstrating their frustration... Visibly disrespecting him and he did nothing... he has to lead in order to take any kind of step forward... He needs the respect and the help of his teammates... I can only imagine what the guy in my sig would have done if anyone dared do that on his watch.

hey- we all wish that guy was still here.
imo, Cohen was just saying 'we all saw the bad things happening, but here are some positives'

"Love the fact that new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll coaches and calls plays from the sideline, instead of the coaching box upstairs. I’ve long believed the play-calling coach gains so much by being down there with his players, looking into their eyes, hearing their input."

Couldn't agree more.

Well I'm talking about the man's intensity in this case not his ability... Henne has been ripped up, down and sideways this offseason and he has not responded with any kind of fire... Where is the fight?? My point is, he is limited as to what he can do... He needs help so he should have taken both Fasano and Bess to task for their mistakes as well as admitted to his own.

Andy Cohen? That's like listening to sports talk on the Dolphins flagship station and hearing honest to goodness analysis.

Saying that Bess ran the wrong route is ignoring the fact that the DB was apparently running the right route because he was locked onto Henne the entire time, knew where the ball was going, and I have a hard time imagining how Bess was going to put himself between that defender and the ball once Henne had thrown it.

Interception is a interception. Why do we have to keep saying it's not his fault. He threw it the guy couldn't hold onto it. Throw a catchable ball how about hitting the guy on the numbers instead of over his shoulder and away

Obvious agenda is obvious,

it DID hit him in the numbers, any 3rd string TE probably couldve caught that

your clueless if you blame henne for that one

Funny thing is the ball hit him in the numbers

I agree, was it a perfectly placed ball, no, but with the amount of time Henna had to get rid of it, it was as perfect as it was going to get, but it was a very catchable pass.

Not sure I agree that it was okay for Bush not to play b/c "we know what [he] can do".

We actually don't know if he can run between the tackles and be our starting RB. In fact, thus far, he's proven he really can't do that. Other Saints RBs like Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory had no problems running in that offense but Bush never could. Now we're assuming he's a feature back behind a worse OL and with zero passing threat.

Hmmmm......not sure about that.....I know what Michael Turner can do for ATL but he didn't mind showing it in preseason. I don't think Marshall or Bush earned that game off.

Who the hell said Bush didn't play b/c the team knows what he can do? No one

So when a QB throws a catchable ball and the receiver still drops it/bounces it in the air for an INT, that cannot possibly be the QB's fault.

I think it was more about having Bush run behind a OL that practiced about 5 times together...he will get his work in the next few weeks.....Let the OL get some work and give some carries to the young backs so they can get some work. I'm more worried about the wear an tear on Reggie than I am about him getting playing time in the first preseason game.....

mad props to most of your posts you have alot to offer this board and i do enjoy most of what you have to say.however i have to disagree with you on this point the qb has several reads to make pre snap and afterwards he then has to decide what is the best throw to make where to place the ball and all under pressure by the D-MEN. if he puts that ball on the numbers and you as a WR
cant do your part well an interception is always going to count on the QB but we all know that it really was not his fault.
look forward to hearing your future posts and like i said b4 i have nothing but respect for you on this site

Guys winning in the preseason don't hold alot a value. Getting the reps in and really seeing what the potiental has for us is most important. Its all about how these plays handle the pressureand adapt in game situations. The real playbook prob was only implimented 10-15% not showing our cds to early.
