Another Dion Jordan Thread

He's a 10-15 sack guy in a 3-4 as an OLB.

Why the hell we traded up for him to use him as a DE in a 4-3, I'll never know.

I am starting to wonder if that is even possible now that he is juiced up! He might be slightly stronger but you have to wonder if he is as fast as he was! And even then I have doubts since he is having trouble beating backup guys! Not so sure he could get 10-15 in a season!

I have serious doubts he can play linebacker other than in a 3-4 role. He has way too many holes in his game. His coverage ability is greatly exaggerated basd on very little actual proof he can cover at NFL level.

I have absolutely no doubts. Coming out of the draft I projected him as a Sam in a 4-3, not a DE or a 3-4 OLB. He is a 1 dimensional pass rusher who only speed rushes. He can't convert speed to power, and doesn't utilize an inside counter move.

According to PFF in 46 snaps in coverage he graded out +2.0 they have a gif in the link below of him running stride for stride with THE BEST TIGHT END IN THE NFL.

Chip Kelly played him at nickelback at times in 2012. Chip knows what he's doing. Also, Jordan covered kickoffs ever year on the fastest team in the country. He could be the best 4-3 SAM linebacker in the NFL with ease.

That makes little sense the difference between his sack numbers as a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. Defenses play subpackages (nickel and dime) 50-60% of the game so more than half of his snaps would be with his hand down anyway.

I'm wondering what impact getting caught juicing would have on your status in the locker room. I'm sure there must be players that are trying to make it by staying clean and they might have thought they were having a fair competition with Jordan, realizing it would be a tough battle to beat out the third overall pick. But come to find out he's cheating on top of his other advantages? That can't sit well with a lot of players in the locker room.

More than half the league is on HGH. I think players are just upset he got caught.

I wish we'd stop being so stubborn and put him at SAM. Let him lose maybe 10lbs during his 4 game break and bring him in as the SAM. He pass rushes great from a two pt stance. He can cover all the big TEs in the league if we let him get his ***** wet at it. We have two very good DEs now in Wake and Vernon, use him in the Wheeler role where we blitz him a lot would be fantastic.

I would love to see Jordan officially moved to SAM. I feel this would be the best way to maximize the front 7. Philip Wheeler is terrible, Koa Misi is the best option at MIKE, Ellerbe is the best option at WILL, and Dion Jordan is a natural SAM LB. And on nickel packages play Jordan and Ellerbe as nickel backers.

Pump the breaks. He wouldn't be a better SLB than Khalil Mack - let alone guys like, IDK, Von Miller.

He doesn't have to be. Just needs to be better than someone on our team.

I once again state he is worthless to us on the bench. Give him play time as anything and let him affect the game or trade him for a starting guard. Just take him off our bench.

His length and dropping back down to about 250lbs, his speed and athleticism. I may argue that fact. But he can do it which is what I want. Let him play it. Let him practice there and get more comfortable in space. Seriously I'd be training McCain all year to be the WILL and have two of the tallest outside 4-3 LB in the game. Both can run and tackle. Then seem to have a knack in coverage as well. How awesome would the destroy passing lanes with their combined wingspans.

In no draft would I ever say that Dion Jordan was the third best player but oh my if I were starting a flag football league

Damn your kicking his ass all over the place today dlockz. But your right, so far at #3, this was an Ireland 'please save my job' reach pick and it's bombing since it neither saved his job nor is it paying dividends afterwords where he can point and say "See, he was worth the #3 pick."

IMHO he's a LBer and could be a much better one than say Philip Wheeler, but as usual with this Philbin coaching staff, we have them trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Your taking that comment out of context. Those guys are superior pass rushers and edge setters. They also play more of a 9 technique more than in a stacked position. Dion Jordan is far superior in coverage. I was projecting him as a TRUE SAM. Playing in a stacked position, and in nickel situations carrying tight ends up the seam instead of pinning his ears back on 3rd and long.

Von Miller and Khalil Mack are Edge Rushers. I'm saying Jordan should be a true LB.

I'd say he was marginally better tonight. Looked like he might have lost a few pounds. I hope so. Perhaps we've already given up on the foolish transformation and are willing to settle for what he was last year, with possibility of slight improvement from that with added experience.

I don't blame Jordan or the Dolphins for being frustrated at his 2013 production and scheming that a heavier weight was the ticket. He was anything but 3rd pick impressive last year and laughable against the run. But I think there are enough returns to determine that the alteration was a bust. He simply doesn't have Jason Taylor's instincts, competitiveness, leverage or arsenal.

Watching Dion Jordan on every play ruins the experience of Dolphins preseason. I really enjoy those games, specifically the lighthearted atmosphere in the broadcast booth. Jordan is so boring out there I have no idea why I continue to focus on him. There's never any variance at all when he's at defensive end. The half-intensity outside moved is thwarted, followed by the inside move thwarted. Once in a while the order is reversed. At least we used him a couple of times in coverage tonight, including once with the first team, and he lined up at Wake's position of left end on one play during the final drive.

Based on what we know, there is a good chance that Jordan's system hasn't yet rebounded from whatever chemicals he was putting in it. If that's the case, he's going to look like half a man out there.
