Another Philbin press conference in about 5 minutes...

I've read that the players were instructed not to talk to the media about Martin and Incognito. Yet they did. What does this tell me? The players don't respect the coaches. That's not a good sign at all...

They were initially told not to on Sunday. They talked Wednesday. The players also talked about their coaches, their culture being attacked and being upset about it. Wake came out and said Philbin has brought nothing but good to the team. In addition Philbin just said it's an open locker room. You gotta dig into the details man, there's too much info to take things on face value and start assuming.

Not much there. Philbin shouldn't use phrases like, "not concerned...," regarding the ongoing issues. I know what he's trying to say but it doesn't sound good. A head coach by definition should be concerned about everything. In fact, if Philbin is damaged by this it's because he didn't involve himself where he belonged.

Another press conference that serves no real purpose.

These are the normal pressers every week where the coach talks about the upcoming game. They are not put in place for bully gate. That's why Joe said he's there to talk about Tampa.

Really?

They were initially told not to speak then they were cleared to speak freely. Now what does it tell you?

talk about the things you can control and be confident in your ability to affect them, do NOT talk about the things or the issues you can't control, you open yourself up for mixed interpretation and furthermore you sound weak... PR 120

Philbin says he called his 92-year-old father and he was on the computer reading about Dolphins issues. Philbin told him to get off.

damnit Joe's dad get off the computer!!!

Who will be the first to make a Joe's Grandpa profile?

Ahh... the way they led up to it on NFLN, it sounded like it was a previously unscheduled presser. Thanks.

You are totally incorrect. The players had enough of the "bullying" by the media and they spoke out. Good for them! Their speaking out and also speaking with guys like Chris Carter, has caused the worm to turn today. Murtha's article, Clabo and Hartline's comments and many others like it will turn public opiniion. Remember nothing is coming out of the Martin camp except the voice mails, which is very interesting. The player have unanimously backed Cogs and I believe the investigation will eventually reveal that Martin was a really messed up guy, not suited for the NFL. Not sure about Cogs, but I really hope he stays.

Counterpoint: when Ryan Tannehill got up and answered questions about it candidly for ten solid minutes, there was a Dolphins PR staffer right there.

Joe has to say that the team was ordered not to discuss it. But the fact that a Dolphins PR guy stood right there and let Tannehill talk says a lot more than Joe's canned response.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, and it's possible there's major unhappiness with the way the staff has handled the situation, but that staffer could have stepped in at any time and stopped Ryan Tannehill as they usually do when players start popping off. Instead, he let the guy take extra time.

You are dead wrong on this. Refer to Hartlines interview on dolphins official website where he explains to the media that the coaches first instructed the players not to talk but after the media was trashing us he allowed Miami to talk as a way to fight back

Which in my opinion was brilliant because it put Martin's story in doubt

The issue I have in this is Philbin was asked today about the players comments yesterday and he said he didn't know anything about them.

Philbin asked why most players supported Incognito and not so much Martin: "I don't know what questions were. I haven't read the accounts."

You would think the one thing he has learned through all this is to have his finger on the pulse of EVERYTHING the team says or does. If the team is meeting with the media, you better be reading every press clipping. If they are on the news, you better watch tape of the broadcast. He should know every word that is coming in and out of that facility.

Sounds like he doesn't.

Everybody that has spoke from that locker room from a player standpoint has had the same line of discussion. I have not heard one player go off the message of support for Richie. The team is tired of the little league bull**** and have become a tighter unit due to all of it. They will fight together on Monday night. My only concern is just the distraction overall... But I have no concern to this team being all together.
