Antaj Hawthorne waived

Hawthorne had a pretty piss poor showing with the Silver & Black this summer. He was out of shape and played soft. He was by far the worst player on the field when he lined up with the 3rd team in the preseason and showed absolutely no improvement as the preseason wore on. Obviously this guy will need a hell of a lot of time to develop, but I don't think any furniture will be broken in Oakland if Hawthorne doesn't clear waivers. In my opinion, he's not an NFL caliber player and his upside potential is a joke.

Please, I follow the Raiders, I have friends who work for the Raiders and are on the sidelines every game and in the lockerroom every game, on the road and at home. I know, for a fact, that the guy has looked good in practice and has played good for a rookie on the field.

I think he got caught in the numbers game in Oakland. I mean, when you keep eight f'n receivers on your squad, it doesn't leave much room for depth at other positions.

Yeah, he would whip anyone in NFL Europe and the CFL. :tongue: No, I was being a little imaginativ.e My point was, this guy has a ton of talent and I am shocked he was let go. He is a perfect project player for a team. It is just unfortunate that we have too on our team already in Wright and Shaw. I would take Antajj in a second though.

Hawthorne was well regarded as a NT, in fact I recall one draft publication claiming he was the best NT prospect available. Note I said NT not DT, a bit of a difference.

Since its clear that we are going to play the 34 hybrid, if (BIG IF) this guy is not a butthead why not take a peek.

We did just lose Vickerson.

We signed a DT so i doubt we sign another DT.Id sign hunt, hawthorne or damian gregory and cut a guy like traylor n zgonina who wont be here next season.
