Anthony Johnson vs AJ Francis?

Fede should be able to go on the practice squad without much risk. I wouldn't be able to say the same about Anthony Johnson. Dline depth is huge, and so many teams don't have it.
Bill Belichick would pounce on him as fast as Bryant McKinnie pounces on an ATM machine in a stripclub (you don't want to get in his way). Fede would have to regurgitate the playbook and be asked to name the weaknesses of the entire Dolphin roster or face waterboarding in Foxboro.

I don't buy any fede is closing on Shelby stuff...Shelby's been the most consistent playing the run end we have...sets the edge well in the run game and strings things out...and supposedly he's got a little more burst and closing speed this year which should help with the pass rush...dirt cheap too

I do think fedes got a shot though...you can never have enough pass rushers if this kids showing raw but high end potential pass rush tools don't cut it...

Yea let me get this straight last years number three overall pick coudnt beat out Shelby but Fede can . Wow

Just like he jumoed on Ronnoe Brown. Im sure we will cut better players than Fede that he could learn from. As for weakness of roster BB probably knows it better than our staff

Jordan wasnt healthy in my defense. Playbook is a big chunk of the battle as a rookie

9DL will be kept especially minus Jordan for the first four weeks (Wake, OV, Starks, Mitchell, Odrick, Shelby, Francis, Fede, Johnson) PS Johnson or Fede when Jordan comes back. Team likes Shelby too much not to keep him on the 53.

Very Nasty indeed. Finally we are building depth under Philben at all positions...

I suspect the Cowboys, Patriots, Falcons and others will be keeping a close on on Miami's D-Line and WR positions and attempt to pouch or grab some that don't make the team or initially are placed on the PS. The WR's and D-Line are the deepest I've seen in many years. Fede, Johnson, Smith, Matthews, Binns and Williams could be playing elsewhere "IF" and when they are released.

Francis has the edge on Johnson (imo), because we don't have another DT like him. Anthony Johnson is much more similar to the guys playing in front of him. Since Soliai left the team, we've been in serious need of size on the defensive front. I wouldn't bet on it either way at this point, and at the end of the day, you're going to take the better player, but if it's close between Johnson and Francis, I'd expect Miami to go with the bigger body.

Not that I have any idea if we could get anything in trade for any of the players being talked about (like a future late round draft pick) but it would be nice to get something like that rather than having them poached from the practice squad. I know most teams might take the stance that we will get them once they are released but maybe some team might have injury troubles and give something if we really feel the player won't make it past these other teams. Probably wishful thinking on my part. I would not think any of the practice squad type players would get much in value but it would be better than losing them with no return.

LOL, so Philbin had nothing to do with the lack of depth when Ireland was here, but now that Hickey is here Philbin is the reason we suddenly have depth at a few spots. Let me guess, it is probably all Hickey's fault that we don't have 5 starters on the OL. Philbin probably had absolutely nothing to do with that??

So if it's good then it was all Philbin and if something is bad it is someone else. And if we thought it was good but it turns bad, then we only THOUGHT it was Philbin's decision but we were all obviously mistaken. Got it.

Add the panthers to that list of teams watching our WRs. They will be in line for the last player we cut at that position for sure. Our 6th and 7th WR would be better than their 3rd. Binns or Williams would start in a 3 WR set for the panthers.

Does Dion Jordan count against the 53 while suspended?

If not, we may be able to keep them all. 9 DL. Odrick, Starks, Mitchell, Johnson, Francis, Wake, Vernon, Shelby, Fede

When Jordan comes back who knows what else opens with injuries.

We have to find a way to keep Franics and Johnson under team control.

If Francis and Johnson look really good in preseason and only if you're not planning to resign him next year, would you consider trading Odrick if the the offer was very nice. I still believe for right offer any player is available.

Johnson has the smarts hut technique wise is a year away from being usable Imo. I would keep both if poss and make the decision next season when we've seen if Francis really has improved and when Johnson has been coached up.q
