He was talking about another QB (can't remember which) and mentioned, "It took Marino two seasons before he started". What is up with that??? Dan Marino started the last 10 games of his rookie season and was the youngest rookie QB ever to start the Pro Bowl. He threw 20 TD's for cryin' out loud! Also, Marino had the "magical" season in his sophomore season (48 TD's,5084 yards!!!). It doesn't take a Dolphins fan for that to be common knowledge. He needs to get his facts straight if he is going to host a national TV show. Especially for a long-time NFL star! You were awesome when you played Rod, but that was pretty weak.

Edit: I was wrong on one thing, he was the ONLY ROOKIE QB to ever start the Pro Bowl.

He doesnt know the truth. I dont blame him. He is a steeler, Raider,Raven.

Rod Woodson is HORRIBLE on there. Whether he is doing Total Access with Eison or back when he helped him out at the Hall of Fame earlier. He is monotone, a bit c0cky, and just isn't a good analyst. Lincoln Kennedy and T.D. do a very good job for being new at it. Rod....he can't formulate smooth educated opinions unless you ask him a question about himself.

No doubt in my mind.

I dont get it...was he saying it in a bad way? He could have just been saying that there were and will be QB's who will be backups for a little while before they get that chance to start. I think this may be taken out of context

Woodson always looked shifty to me with that little thin moustache of his.

He said that it took Dan Marino 2 seasons to start. 95% of true NFL fans (even excluding superstar players like Rod Woodson) know at the very least Dan Marino's best season was his second in the league when they went to the Super Bowl and lost to the 49ers with Joe Montana. How could he mess that up?

Sadly, I doubt 95% of true Dolphins fans know that. Fandom should be based on the love for the sport/team, not on brains. There are a lot of people who really love this team and this game who just don't know the facts that most of us here do.

You really think that less than 95% of true Dolphins fans don't know that Dan Marino's best year was his second season when they went to the Super Bowl? I would think that every true NFL fan would know that.

I caught that as well. When he said that my mouth almost dropped to the ground. That's one of the biggest goofs I've ever heard an announcer make.

Go visit your local sports bar some Sunday, man. Remember, Marino awareness is about as high as it ever will be due to his recent induction. There are a lot of people I don't doubt are fans who just don't know this stuff. In addition, there is a whole generation of fans out there who don't even remember Marino's first couple of years. Expecting them to know Dan's best season was his second would be like asking who coached the first team to win the Super Bowl. Almost everybody here knows that answer, but the average fans won't do nearly as well.

I think what I'm getting at is that here we have a group of people who feel so passionately about the Dolphins that they spend considerable time on a message board about the team. Lots of true fans don't do that. Lots of people who truly are fans just show up at the games or at the bar and cheer on their teams without thinking too much about the whole thing. That's just the way they're wired.

it was clear to me that it was a simple mistake. He was talking about Alex Smith not starting, and meant to say Steve Young since he played for the 49ers as well. No big deal, it was a simple mistake.

Ohhhh i get it! Sorry my bad.

Oh well i remember seeing an interview Rod had with Dan and he seemed cool about it. I dont think he meant anything bad by it but yes it was a screw up. Im sure he just made a mistake.
