Anyone else worry about our defense?

It's easy to overlook things when you win but our defense almost blew our last 2 games. Keep on mind that you keep on doing that and it'll come back and get you. First, it seems as everytime we score the defense play worse. It was a great win yesterday and I'm happy for it butI'm a little worry that our defense don't know how to play with a lead. Not trying to spoil the fun but had NE scored a TD at the end(they had 4 chances)everyone would be talking about how our defense blew the game. Also keep on mind that NE was missing their best goal line weapon. We have work to do guys.

Ozzy rules!!

New England does what they did yesterday to almost every team. They did it vs. New Orleans and Denver, both in NE and both Super Bowl contenders (whether the Saints suck outside the Dome or not isn't my point). The last play vs. Pittsburgh should be viewed as worrisome b/c they got bailed out there. The game vs. NE though, I think all of us expected NE to win b/c Brady always ****s Miami.

But the Dolphins did enough to win vs. who the Pats had on the field.

anyone saying to get rid of coyle is bat**** crazy.

our d is playing well enough to keep us in every game.

this is while dealing with our #2 corner being out 2/3 of the season. everyone thinks we should be just like the seahawks I suppose...

We got gashed early as our LBs and safeties again struggled with the run. But they settled down,.

Then when our CBs all vanished and we were coping with Davis, Wilson and Thomas, Brady found it pretty easy to march on us. The Dline really came up gold to keep the Pats out on the final plays, though. Brady was actually quite poor in those final four downs, though the little **** would never admit it.

Not too worried about defense. While I appreciate that they try to create fumbles, I just wish they would wrap up more. Too many long gains where if the defender would have wrapped him up he would have been stopped.

Some of you will never be happy. Some of you will continue to wine and complain even when stats, the league, and our record disagrees with it. We have beaten the division leaders of three out of the four in the AFC. and yea we lost some game but so has every other team. Our D, as I have previously pointed out with logic, is top ten in the league. I'm sorry this isn't Madden and we aren't playing on easy mode shutting every team out, but in the real world we have a great O

All teams "march down the field" on all others. Sometimes it happens at bad times. Sometimes we get away with calls, sometimes other teams do. So what? All that matters is you win on Sunday. We have now won enough to put ourselves in place to be in the playoffs and in the playoffs against a team we beat.

So quit your bitching and enjoy the winning.

Yes all teams give up drives at bad times but our d has done it in almost every single game this year. In fact this years perpetual pattern has been:

Come out flat
Get a lead in the second half
Lose the lead right after by giving up a long methodical drive
Tannehill pulls it out or the o line becomes human turn styles.

As much heat as Tannehill has taken this year, the defense deserve twice as much. Why do they get a free pass while jackasses pull every obscure stats out of their asses to feed their agenda?

Obscure stats like the ones I posted? Like ppg, sacks, ints, red zone %. Oh ya, real obscure.

No I'm referring to Shouright and WV. The countless threads bashing Tannehill. According to them the coaching, defense, receivers, running game, and oline are all fine and its solely tannehill's fault. Some of the people in this thread have agreed to some degree. just pointing out the hypocrisy of making excuses for the defense but nit picking our qb.

At the start of the year I thought the defense would be really solid and would carry the team until the offense had some time to gel and play well together given all the personnel changes. I haven't seen the defense play nearly as solid as many thought they would and don't see them improving as the year goes on. I have seen the offense improve as expected and to be honest if we want to make a deep playoff run the defense needs to step up and play to their full potential which I really hope happens.

That being said I haven't been this happy to be a dolphins fan in years and can't really complain after beating the pats !

D lost us leads against Carolina, the bills, and ravens at the end of the games. Tampa too I think. Those are only the losses.

We lost leads against Pitt, ne and we won.

Atlanta, Indy I don't remember if They gave up a 4th qtr lead.

It would be nice to get more consistent qb pressure when a team is trying to come back

LMAO @ people criticizing our D

They lost leads because OUR OFFENSE DOES NOT GENERATE ENOUGH POINTS!!!!!!!!!!

The defense is one of the best in the league. Outside of the Saints game, nobody has scored 30 on them. The Saints drop 30 on everyone in that dome.

Against the Pats they gave up 27 the first time, but our offense gifted the Pats with field position to score. Hell, we gave them the ball at the 10 yard line once.

Against the Steelers we gave them a pick 6. We held a great QB and passing game to 3 TDs there. Most teams do not score 3 TDs on us. Our D consistently holds teams to right around 20 points or less, giving us a very nice chance to win. Its the offense that has to capitalize on this. If we could score some god damned points we wouldnt be giving up leads.

Criticizing the D for the Buffalo loss when our QB threw a pick 6 and set them up for their other TD with a turnover is laughable. The D pretty much shut Buffalo's offense down in that game.

Carolina: your O didn't score a point in the 2nd half
Buf: the D blew the lead b/c the O turned it over in FG range w/ a 1 pt lead late
Bal: the only reason the game was close late was b/c the D scored a TD in the 4th qtr to tie it.
TB: they scored early in the 4th qtr to take a 3 pt lead, the O had over 10 minutes to tie or take the lead.
Pitt: lost a lead b/c of an INT for a TD and they shut Pitt down late
Indy: held Indy scoreless in 4th, Indy was one of best 4th qtr teams in league
Atl: gave up FG w/ over 11 mins left to trail by 3.
NE: O didn't score entire 2nd half

Someone with some sense.

Well, our D is the bomb, Tanne is becoming the bomb, coaching is becoming the bomb but has a few more rough edges to work out, recievers are becoming the bomb, running game can improve, and OL can improve. For me though, to hell with all that as long as Fins win and get into playoffs. For year two of a rebuild ill take it.

If it wasn't for that phantom batting call, phantom PI, and others I doubt they would have put up that 27.

Awesome, right on que to prove my point! A butt load if excuses for the defense and extra blame for the offense. Ya its the offense's (or Tannehill in your tunnel vision pov) that caused the defense to miss tackles, blow coverages, and give up 3rd and long over and over again on those long drives. Give me a break!

Oh and just wait. His posts have flip flopped more than a nervous politician. Next week it's very likely that the defense will go from boss to bums. Like Ireland, Philbin, Tannehill, Martin, etc....

If the game is on the line and the opponent has the ball, tell me you're not scared. If you say you're not, then you must be one hell of a poker player.

Against Cincy, win
Against Pitt, win
Against NE, win
Against ATL, win
Against CLE, win (although they had to get two scores)

So, I feel good now. Couple of picks and a sack to end drives in these...solid play. The only bad one was against the Panthers which you could attribute to poor coaching and a fake penalty when Newton flopped out of bounds.

The Pitt game they almost lost in on the last play due to piss poor tackling, low awareness, and no hustle. It's an absolute dreadful example of good defense. Same with the pats game! We gave up over 450 yards to a mash unit and got a long overdue bit of good fortune from the refs. The browns, bengals and chargers games were the examples you should have used.

Almost lost....not a loss. 450 yards doesn't matter, still held to 20. PPG & turnovers are the bulk of what really matter.
