Anyone remember Kirby Dar-Dar?

Didn't he run a 4.19 40 on his first try then someone else ran it like 4-5 times and finally clocked a 4.18 to be the fastest guy on the team?

I know I know completely random story - but we are talkin about Kirby Dar-Dar here.

all i no for a fact is that i love his last name, wat nationality is it?

Dar-Dar

I also remember nate jacket I liked his name

With a name like that, who could forget him? :D

But the fact that you were printing out his resume isn't a good sign :(

I sure do remember him. In fact I have a Dar Dar jersey hanging in my closet this very moment. (compliments of my niece, who said it was the only Dolphin jersey she could find at the time).

He was the head coach of the Syracruse Soilders of the AIFL, the team folded after 10 weeks, but they hoping to bring it back next season with new ownership. I don't know if he will try coaching the team again or not.

Well, he was a big star running back here at Syracuse University. The Dolphins signed him as an UFA in 1995 and moved him to WR. He was one of those guys that practiced really well and looked good in camp, but frequently was hurt and that stunted him. Unfortunately, he got a nickname here..."Kirby Drop-Drop".

Well, anyway, a few months ago, he walked into the place I used to work and asked if I could print out his resume from a disk. I did it for him and asked for his autograph. He very kindly obliged and I talked to him for a few minutes. He was a very good special teams player for Miami and I mentioned that I remembered him blocking a punt against Houston in 1996 that changed the momentum of the game. He smiled and was rather surprised that I had remembered that. Very nice guy and my female co-workers were giggling about what a nice smile he had.

So he's running an arena football team up here and they're going through their expantion throws right now, but that's my installment in "Where are they know?"
I remember DarDar. JJ would use him to light a fire under the other WR's in camp by hyping him up. He was a flyer though. He was the fastest on the team, except during Jerris McPhail's short tenure.

I remember seeing on the local sports channel when he was here at Syracuse that his family is from the Caribbean. I can't remember specifically what country. The real spelling is "Dardar".

And in response to another post, yes. I remember Jimmy Johnson saying that he ran a sub 4.2 40 yard dash during training camp and was going to get a legitimate chance to compete for playing time at WR.

here in panama city fla the fins usually sent a squad of current and ex players around to play b-ball against the local highschool allstars. met kirby dar-dar and irving spikes at the game and we went out to pizza hut afterwards, cool guys. asked what marino was really like and they both said in a respectfull way that he was an "a$$h***". met neal colzie and sat next to his wife in the stands, she let me try on his superbowl ring. he liked to wear it on his pinky so it was so small i couldn't get it all the way on. great time all around.

He wasn't out of work for long though. He worked for an investment company here in Syracuse before becoming the coach of the Syracuse Soliders, an arena football team. Unfortunately, they folded shortly after.

Looking at his resume, I just thought it was cool seeing the following:

1995-1998 Miami Dolphins Football Organization
Wide Receiver

He seems like a bright guy. Maybe he can get an NFL coaching internship like Dameyune Craig and others have done. Look what Bernie Parmalee was able to do -- he came in as our running backs/tight end coach and then was offered and accepted the special teams coach position at Notre Dame!

Oh yeah, Nate Jacquet! Another burner on special teams. I remember he was a good punt returner for us back in 1999. He was leading the league in punt return average with something like 17 YPR.

What a shame. I became friends with Dan and Clair in the mid '90's. They were the nicest and most down to earth people I have ever met. Maybe they got chewed out on the field a few times for being the stellar players that they were.
