Anyone remember Kirby Dar-Dar?

Didn't he run a 4.19 40 on his first try then someone else ran it like 4-5 times and finally clocked a 4.18 to be the fastest guy on the team?

I know I know completely random story - but we are talkin about Kirby Dar-Dar here.

HOLY ****ING ****

That is fast

Jerris McPhail beat him. But the 4.19 was McPhail's I thought. Either way, just further proof that 40 times aren't everything.

What a shame. I became friends with Dan and Clair in the mid '90's. They were the nicest and most down to earth people I have ever met. Maybe they got chewed out on the field a few times for being the stellar players that they were.
i gathered by their reply that they thought he was an a###### because of what he expected and demanded from them on the football field not just him as a person. after i asked them the question they both just looked at each other with a "is there ever gonna be anybody who doesn't ask us about dan" look. the funny thing was both kirby and spikes were trying to hook up with my ex-wife, who was there with our kids. after they found out i was cool with them trying they were both asking my advise on what to do or say to impress her. they both struck out, guess being a pro athelete with money is harder than we thought. lol

here in panama city fla the fins usually sent a squad of current and ex players around to play b-ball against the local highschool allstars. met kirby dar-dar and irving spikes at the game and we went out to pizza hut afterwards, cool guys. asked what marino was really like and they both said in a respectfull way that he was an "a$$h***". met neal colzie and sat next to his wife in the stands, she let me try on his superbowl ring. he liked to wear it on his pinky so it was so small i couldn't get it all the way on. great time all around.

I have heard a few people say that about dan.

off the record of course! lol

Well, he was a big star running back here at Syracuse University. The Dolphins signed him as an UFA in 1995 and moved him to WR. He was one of those guys that practiced really well and looked good in camp, but frequently was hurt and that stunted him. Unfortunately, he got a nickname here..."Kirby Drop-Drop".

Well, anyway, a few months ago, he walked into the place I used to work and asked if I could print out his resume from a disk. I did it for him and asked for his autograph. He very kindly obliged and I talked to him for a few minutes. He was a very good special teams player for Miami and I mentioned that I remembered him blocking a punt against Houston in 1996 that changed the momentum of the game. He smiled and was rather surprised that I had remembered that. Very nice guy and my female co-workers were giggling about what a nice smile he had.

So he's running an arena football team up here and they're going through their expantion throws right now, but that's my installment in "Where are they know?"

Did he have "Miami Dolphins" on his resume?

His ability to jump in the endzone and throw the ball back out on punts was amazing. Possibly the best I have ever seen. It seemed to me that they were almost trying to do that on purpose when he was in there. If people kept track would probably go down as a top 3 if not the best flyer in Dolphin history

Actually, he did! It was something along the lines of this:

1995-1998 Miami Dolphins Football Organization
Wide Receiver

It was really cool seeing that.

Actually, at the same job, I met Walt Patulski. I did some graphic design work for him. He was a really high draft pick for the Bills in the early 1970s out of Notre Dame. He was an All-American and the whole nine yards. I asked him for his autograph and he asked which jersey number I would like next to his name, his Notre Dame # or his Bills #. I told him "Notre Dame please. I'm a huge Miami Dolphins fan!" He laughed and signed it for me. Another very nice guy who is very successful as a financial consultant.

Hey endorPHINS72 thats a great story! Very cool.:dolphins:

No kidding. I think it was in 1996, when the Dolphins were playing at home against Seattle in the rain, that I remember seeing him make one of those incredible plays. Unfortunately, the Dolphins lost the game.

I actually even remember when he was in college at Syracuse.....there was a section of the crowd at the Carrier Dome that had a banner saying something like "Kirby Dar-Dar Fan-Fan Club-Club". I kid you not.....I read it in Sports Illustrated or some other sports magazine.
