Are playoffs realistic?

Very possible. We've lost to 4 superbowl-caliber teams. The Pats and jets are starting to look beatable, and they're our toughest remaining opponents. I bet the Ravens get one of the wildcards, and then it'll come down to us or NE. NE already has 3 losses, so if we go up there and beat them we're in good shape.

The rest of our schedule is much softer than the first half. I can see us realistically going 6-1. maybe 7-0????

Doesn't look good. Didn't after the Ravens game. Basically, the wildcards will come from the North and East divisions, meaning NE/NYJ or PITT/BALT. We've lost to all of them, with the chance to lose to NE/NYJ again. It's done folks, it was last week.

It's entirely realistic that the Dolphins could make the playoffs being 5-4 now. There is still a lot of football left. We have to do a lot of things right to get there, but even teams ahead of us have to do a lot of things right to seal up a playoff berth. Every year there are several teams that started off well but fade for a variety of reasons down the stretch. We just have to be one of those teams that plays their best football down the stretch. Considering we've gotten to 5-4 without doing everything this team is capable of, if we do get everything going its scary to think how much better we could be.

If we go 6-1 the rest of the way and the loss is non conference (lions or bears) then we do have a decent shot. We go 5-2 then BOTH "L"s have to be vs lions and bears, for us to have any chance at all. If we finish 10-6 we have to hope a miracle happen for us to make it. We can't end up tied with the ravens, steelers jets or pats, or we lose the tiebreakers. We will probably lose any tiebreaker vs any team we end up tied with if we lose another conference game.

Yes, it is possible. It isn't like Miami is 4-5 games behind the current seeded teams, they are just one game back. Currently(not including the on-going Patriots/Steelers game) the seeding is this:

1. Jets (7-2)
2. Steelers (6-2)
3. Colts (6-3)
4. Raiders (5-4)
5. Patriots (6-2)
6. Ravens (6-3)

Miami is currently sitting tied at #7. It hurts that we lose head to head tie breakers with the Ravens and Steelers. It also hurts that we already lost to the Patriots and are just 1-2 in the division. But with 7 weeks still to go and the fact that Miami has a winning record currently gives them a chance. Our biggest enemy right now may be injuries.

Keep this in mind, Miami was sitting at 4-5 at this point last year. They were mathematically still alive for the playoffs in Week 17 last season. A lot can happen between now and the end of the season, so we are definitely not out of the hunt. If Thigpen can play decent, this may be the beginning of our playoff push.

This. Plus we have a chance to go 4-2 in the division again.

if big Jake is out for the season then a 0% chance

That's the problem..Of the two I think it's far more likely the Jets will drop than the Pats..

I predict we go 7-0 down the stretch and get into the playoffs! We will beat the Patriots last week of the season bc they will have clinched home field and will be resting starters

I'll say this much. The Jets have looked like the 2nd best team in their 3 games previous to this one, and if not for an overzealous WR, they would have lost this one. They've been incredibly fortunate to escape their last 4 games with three wins. Their schedule doesn't let up at all with Houston, New England, Miami, and Pitt left. If Miami can pull a split with the Jets, don't overlook them taking over 2nd in the division. This all pretty much hinges on the injury report we'll see.

Ravens lost today and the Steelers look like they are going to lose as well which is good for us.

Jets and Patriots both won which is bad for us.

IF we can beat the Jets and Patriots and with a few other teams helping us out by losing it's not out of the question but it's a wildcard slot at best unless the Jets (hopefully) fall apart.

As far as I can tell, the wildcard situation at the moment looks like we have the Patriots, Ravens and Chiefs ahead of us with the Jets, Steelers, Colts and Raiders leading their divisions.

if we win out, we r in almost guarenteed. 11-5, although seems like a good record, can be tough due to our tiebreaking scenarios.

say we were to go 12-4.

right now,

jets-7-2
pats-7-2
steelers-6-3
ravens-6-3

ravens and steelers play eachother again, meaning one of them will get a 4th loss guarenteed ( im not thinking their will be a tie) meaning one of those teams would then have to lose 1 of their other 6 games.

pitts got the jets, bills, panthers, raiders, browns, and bengals left after aside from that baltimore game. out of all those games, the jets, raiders, and browns r the toughest in that order.

balt, aside from the steeler game has the bengals, browns, bucs, panthers, saints, and texans. out of those 6 games, the saints, texans, and bucs r the toughest. i say the texans bc the game is in houston.

if we can get both of those teams to have 4 losses going into their matchup on dec 6th, and assuming we were to win out, that would be huge.

r the chiefs ahead of us? we have the same record with the same amount of conference losses?
