See I think this goes further in proving my point. Philbin IS a good teacher. Philbin IS good with Xs and Os. Philbin is good at understanding and TEACHING what you have to do to win. He studied all off season on how to come up with a plan to beat the pats and nearly accomplished that TWICE. That is the difference between a teacher and a leader. Those games and the SD game and others you mention were examples of being a teacher instead of a leader. The 2nd pats game had a little of both, but IMO it was him using a pre-existing game plan that he used the first game.I respect your opinion and in the end you may be correct. I want to see more before I am convinced. We showed up for the NE game, the Carolina game, the SD game etc and that NE game was a big spot. The verdict is still out for me on our coach and our QB. The situation with the OL would not seem to help either at this key juncture.
But when at the end of the season he had to motiviate, lead, inspire his players to rise above themselves as individuals, to become a greater whole than the sum of their individual parts, it didn't happen. He is just not the type of man that inspires confidence. His most inspirational words, have the effect of making ya kinda want to.... take a nap.
