Article: More NFL people come to the defense of Ireland (good read in my opinion)

What exactly was Bill Parcell's role on the team the 1st 2 yrs? Was he just window dressing? Who had FINAL say on personnel matters, BP or JI?

Let me guess, Ireland had nothing but great ideas that were all shot down by Parcells. He had absolutely nothing to do with any of the poor decisions that were made during that period. Again, what was Ireland doing during this period? Not making any personnel decisions? Being groomed by Parcells, who is godawful when it comes to personnel? Awesome.

The stench of Parcells should have been wiped out completely last year. Instead it lingers and those that defended it last year continue to do so this year. I'm sure they'll be right again...

As ****y as Ireland has been in managing long term talent retention and progression plans for aging players he isn't the worst GM Miami has had the pleasure of working with in the last decade. Jeff can scout taleny, no doubt about it but where he fails in epic fashion is taking risks outside his comfort zone.
I'll agree he isn't the worst, but that isn't really saying much and it certainly doesn't make him a good one. He can scout talent, I'll agree, so if we want to keep him on as a scout, I'm okay with that. GM's need to do a bit more than that though.

I don't care if Ireland is a jerk as long as he produces positive results. And he shoulders most of the blame that the perception among the fans is that he isn't very good at his job.

I'd have preferred Ross cleaned house, but regardless, my immediate reaction when seeing the thread title was "More red meat for yet another Pavlovian droolfest!"

I'm shocked it hasn't changed people's views on Ireland!

proof is in the pudding. the last four or five years has been an epic failure. any and all associated with it, from a front office POV, should have been shown the door.

not sure how you keep doing the same things for five years, (based on a 25 year old business model btw) and expect to see different results....

jeff ireland may very well be a good scout... a good gm... I'm not even lukewarm on that idea...

agree agree agree

Ha Ha Ha Ha how many years have many of you children have been dolphin fans? How many of you been through the Shula drafts of Eric Kummerow, John Bosa, OL Green etc that failed but Shula covered up those drafte with a cocaine snorting Marinio or that was the rumour at the time. Then the fans of that erea plus the media ran Shula out of town replaced Shula with JJ who taught Bill B how to take a few draft picks and make them many and in pick 10 plus players in his drafts grabbed Z THomas, J Taylor, P Surtain and S. Madison and thats about it. Marinio retired and all the complaining back then was that we had no running game and we spend 2 1st round picks on Ricky Williams and got us a win with J Fielder and 1 playoff game, then along came Nick Saban who lied and lost his way of town won little and drafted nothing, Cameron and Mueller the one year they were here lost all their games but 1 and their one draft pic to really make it P. Saloi took 3-4 years to develop. So now we have had Parcells/ Ireland that according to the posters in the know around here have failed just because they did not produce a QB and hit on more of their picks. Lets see Pouncy, Long, Davis, Marshall, Dansby, Wake, Carpender, ,Starks, Pennnington, Fasano, Bush, Bess, Fields, Odrick, Clay, Langford and Burnett. I am leaving off Bell and P Saloi that they held onto from the Muelller and ealeir. Thats 19 solid to all pro players that Ireland brought in his tenure or kept not to mention the Henne plus a host of other players he drafted that are still on NFL rosters along with the Dolphins. Like I have posted for you Ireland must go fans watch out what you wish for because we have already had 25 years of that and it was worse.
I agree I"ve been here see that and then some. Give Jeff some more time to find our quaterback folks.

You are so asleep - with your "management charts" - Ireland signed on BPs choices everyone know it but you

It's funny how every team is looking for that Franchise QB - apparently they fall off the trees or something - You can pretty much count those Franchise QBs on one hand - but if you don't have one you SUCK -

That pretty much sums up the mentality of those teams that don't have a franchise QB, including ours. It's the same mentality that keeps a team from jumping at the opportunities in which they may land one, that keeps them from taking the risks necessary to get a good QB. It's the mentality that makes a FO choose a LT over a QB, the mentality that keeps a team from ever trading up to land what they feel may be their franchise QB. If you're constantly standing pat and hoping one falls in your lap, you'll never get one and you'll always have the excuse that they "don't grow on trees."

While I'm not sold on Tannehill, I certainly won't fault them for trying (though I will fault them if they stick with him even when it's apparent he's not very good, which is another problem we suffer from).

If you don't have a franchise QB, you may not suck, but you won't be winning the Super Bowl anytime soon.

of course you don't. because these guys never said it.
they have nothing to gain by praising Ireland, but I understand why you have to cut them down
that's how it works, if someone says something supportive of ireland, it must be a lie, and if someone trashes ireland it must be true!

I think last year's 6-10 record says more than anything else about Ireland as a GM, not to mention he has to take some blame for some of Dallas's success an failures.

Depending on your views on Ireland, the opposite is also true. The draft and subsequent FA moves may change some people's views, but not many. I'd say everybody is pretty firmly entrenched in their views on him. These articles pretty much only incite responses that have already been heard from each side about a billion times already.

The draft can't get here soon enough.

They blindly accept the biased opinions of Channing Crowder, Ryan Clark and Joey Porter with obvious axes to grind, then reject well-respected, knowledgable men that have nothing to gain by supporting Jeff Ireland.
The word that comes to mind is agenda

A phrase that comes to mind is "holier than thou" in completely dismissing player commentary because it goes against one's own agenda.

Ouch, lol. If I'm looking for the truth, I don't believe I will get it from those three players and their history with Ireland. I'll go with the guys that have no irons in fire
