Article - Top 5 Miami Dolphins OTA Storylines

I saw it work for the Bengals in the 1970-80 period where they went to the Superbowl twice. That happened after they brought in a new HC named Forest Gregg.

He was asked by the media what he was going to do with the teams QB problem (sound familiar). His answer is burned into my memories - "no one can throw lying on their back!" At that time, they had an all pro center. In his first season Gregg brought in two significant offensive lineman that started in their first year. Their names were Munoz and Montoya. The rest is history.

Does this start to sound somewhat familiar? - LOL

Your dates are a bit off, and the Bengals only went to the Super Bowl once under Gregg, but you’re right in that a better line definitely helped Ken Anderson.

Just cancel these and show up in August for walkthroughs before the real hitting starts in September. Too much injury risk. These guys learned how to block, tackle and catch in grade school.
“Everybody has to buy in, and this is the time that you need to be bought in,” Slay said, via Chris Ward of SteelersNow.com. “Guys have families. I have one as well. You want to be a champion? There are things you have to sacrifice, and this is one of the jobs I want to sacrifice. I want to come here, be on time, be present, let guys see my face, let them know it’s important for me to be here, and I’m here to win.”

Did you watch the games back then and were you on the Bengals chatboard? I am wondering bc Forest Gregg is actually spelled Forrest Gregg, he wasn't head coach until the 1980 season, and they only went to the Super Bowl once when he was there, which was for only 4 years. So you are RONG about just about everything, consistent with your commentary on the Dolphins, you lemming negative nancy you. You need to be on a continuous improvement plan too - LOL!

who is that guy on our team? seiler maybe to some degree. anyone else? it is a problem when it doesn't come from the coaches, and there is not enough of it coming from the players, in fact some of the players seem to have been doing the opposite!

Like you said, only using 6 if the 10 otas is about as dumb as it gets for this team considering their recent history

I am not sure that is true. If it were, why do coaches and analysts always talk about improving mechanics and technique?
I do agree about injuries. If I were a HC I would hire a physical therapist or kinesiologist type person to focus the team on stretching.

What that guy forgets is we don’t do any hitting or tackling to the ground in training camp :)

I slightly agree with this. Whether it be 6 or 10 OTAs, it won't matter if nothing is being changed in OTAs. Instead of 10 OTAs of fun time in Miami, and adding more risk of unseen injuries as they get back in shape, make those 6 days more intense (More Club Dred, less Club Med) to get them in key shape, to get their intensity up, have them be more refined to slow down those penalties, then allow them to rest, before the real bullets start.

Quality over Quanity...McDaniel and the coaching staff get that done, and they changed for the better from years passed.

yup. any word if anything has changed in this regard, or the OTAs still seem the same as prior years?

McDaniel better wake up and figure it out, because whether he realizes or not, he will be coaching this year for his job, even if they reach the playoffs, it may still not save him.

Create a more intense, tougher, smart team that gives signs of being dominant in games, or it may be too little, too late.

Funtime is over...Sink or swim.

The Wilson and Ewers situation could be more crucial than fans realize. If Tua misses significant time with injuries this season, Miami could make the choice to move on and get out of the contract.

Meaning, the Dolphins could know if Wilson has a future or if Ewers is a possibility. Going further, the team could realize the need to draft a quarterback high.

I hope Tua stays healthy and has his best year. But durability is his biggest obstacle.

yes rooting for tua's health, not only for the sake of the record this year, but more importantly to try and get a clean evaluation on him. he is owed money through 2026.

True.

I could have been clearer. Forest Gregg "got the ball rolling" and some follow up HCs took it from there.

During that time the owner, Paul Brown, advanced a member of the coaching staff, "Tiger" Johnson? over another coach we had. That other coach got mad and left for San Francisco where he eventually became the HC and made history.

Can you guess his name - it starts with a "W"? - LOL

Maybe coming out of the 6 players receive "homework" assignments and a few OTAs are waived to allow them time to complete that work independently. Just guessing. What I do know is that using only the 6 is a conscious decision with a purpose in mind. It's not simply to satisfy player or coach convenience.

lol that’s a good one man have to give you credit, the ultimate excuse to avoid practicing together during a 7 month hiatus .

It’s a joke and folks need to call his ass out on it.
