As We Embark Upon A New Season...

Great post, love it!

I am a fan since 1970 and a native floridian. I will freely admit to being spoiled by the success of this team, the seasons we've experienced of late are a new experience for me. But, I pulled that jersey on and went to the sports bar every sunday of that 1-15 season.

5 Stars.

Thank you sir. It was France but, it may just as wel be a sportsbar.
I seriously can't even make it through this part without tearing up.:woot:

Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made,
And crowns for convoy put into his purse;
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.

and MacFynch, it sure looks like Spring is about to be sprung, eh?

Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this son of York;
And all the clouds that low'r'd upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.

You know Vaark, after the disappointing '89 season, an allegedly much more powerful Buffalo Bills team came to town for our season opener. Nobody gave us much of a chance, even at home, and the commentators were mocking our starting running back Mark Higgs... because, after all, who the heck was the diminutive Mark Higgs?

Higgs ran well, the defense crushed, and the Fins rolled 30-7.

Not predicting a blowout, but a strong start by a team eager to please BP and his brothers in arms could go a long way towards setting a positive tone for the season. The pressure is clearly on the jets. (I will never capitalize their name.) Lord Favre joins a fraternally fractured team that overspent on hit-or-miss talent in the hopes of making one final push towards glory--before their HC & GM are thrown out the nearest open window. I like our chances.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. Sun-tzu GO FINS, BEAT THEM JETS ON WEEK 1.....

Im here for the because the female Dolphin fans are the hottest bunch of women you will encounter!

It's time to return this franchise to its once exalted heights from glories past... Time to answer the challenge... Time to silence the critics... Time to bring the Pain... ITS TIME FOR SOME SERIOUS NO NONSENSE IN YOUR FACE FOOTBALL...

'Cry Havoc and let slip the dogs of war!' - Shakespeare

I really just want to say that we have some true fans on this site. Including myself, when we were as bad as could be, at an 0-13 record, and everything was crashing down on us...we were still here rooting our team on for a win. We were still here talking about this trade, this player, etc etc. I really appreciate having a brotherly accordance of fins fans right here. With that being said...LETS GO DOLPHINS....F-I-N-S FINS FINS FINS.

'Tis the highest honour to be amongst the good Phin fans on this board, as we await, in expectation, of a new beginning.

Nothing would be as satisfying as to start the new beginning with a win over the jets. It would be good measure to erase the horrid memories of last season.

GO PHINS!!!

last yr. was the longest yr of high school for me bcuz of all the Dolphin bashin i got from friends and my team... this year's gonna be diff.! always a proud Dolphins fan!

:azmang: <--- cant wait to do this to some of my teammates when we whoop the JETS!

Well stated from Sun Tzu....

I like this in relation to Bill Parcells and how he is respected, motivates and interacts with players:

"Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death."

:D Glad I checked back on this thread...Shakespeare, Sun Tzu and Bill Parcells all quoted in the same thread.

Include my name in this thread, 27 years true dolphins fan, through the pain during this time always hoping to get better, I can tell you honesty, I do know what will hapen, but I see the intensity back on my team, fight like warriors even when you are a 1-15 team; fortunatelly, this time the trifecta give us hope again.

How about a fantastic speech from a mediocre movie?

I don’t know what to say, really. Three minutes till the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Now either we heal as a team or we’re gonna crumble, inch by inch, play by play, 'til we’re finished.
We’re in hell right now, gentlemen, believe me. And, we can stay here -- get the **** kicked out of us -- or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell one inch at a time.
Now, I can’t do it for you. I’m too old. I look around. I see these young faces, and I think -- I mean -- I made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I, uh, I pissed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who’s ever loved me. And lately, I can’t even stand the face I see in the mirror.
You know, when you get old in life things get taken from you. I mean that's...part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out life’s this game of inches. So is football. Because in either game, life or football, the margin for error is so small -- I mean one-half a step too late, or too early, and you don’t quite make it. One-half second too slow, too fast, you don’t quite catch it.
The inches we need are everywhere around us.
They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second.
On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch, because we know when we add up all those inches that’s gonna make the ****in' difference between winning and losing! Between livin' and dyin'!
I’ll tell you this: In any fight, it’s the guy who’s willing to die who’s gonna win that inch. And I know if I’m gonna have any life anymore, it’s because I’m still willin' to fight and die for that inch. Because that’s what livin' is! The six inches in front of your face!!
Now I can’t make you do it. You got to look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes! Now I think you’re gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows, when it comes down to it, you’re gonna do the same for him!
That’s a team, gentleman!
And, either we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals.

That’s football guys.
That's all it is.

Now, what are you gonna do?

("Any Given Sunday")

Man, I've been a Phin fan as long as I can remember, since someone gave me a Dolphins logo sticker in my Haloween bag many, many years ago. Watched every game since then. Unfortunately, life has carried me out of the great state of FL in recent years, but I still watch the game every chance I get. And on the ocassions where it's impossible for me to see the game because of the local market, I'm sitting at the computer watching the live stat updates. I've only a handful of posts here at this site, but I've been lurking here for about 5-6 years now, and enjoy reading these threads almost every day since.

Can't wait for Sunday!
