A 6'1, 233 TB that runs a 4.4 who blocks, has great hands and has minimal miles on the clock, is a downhill runner, who punishes players on contact, who can create at the 2nd level, is, in my opinion, the better pro prospect of the 3.

Boomer,

One thing I never understood: Why do people say that Brown has "minimal miles" if he served as the fullback on plays that he didnt carry the load himself? IMO its a result of relying too closely on stats to see who had the most carries, and not looking atthe complete picture. Being a Fullback is a grueling, punishing job that takes its toll on RB's much more than simply being the primamry ballcarrier. Sure Brown didnt tote the rock 25 times a game, but he was still on the field, and on most plays, he took some real punishment.

POint is, I would venture that Cadillac is the real "low mileage" guy, since he only carried the ball 17 times a game and didnt have to pull double duty as a blocker.

What he did a lot of was line up as the FB simply to keep him on the field. A lot of times he would chip block and go out on pass patterns. I agree that he had physical contact as a FB that others didn't, but his legs are much fresher.

Hey I have Caddy a 1/2 step behind Brown I just like Ronnie that bit more. Frankly mate I would be happy with either.

My point is he was on the field quite a bit and took his share of additional hits. I have no problem with your ranking Brown ahead of Benson and Caddy, I just think people have a habit of throwing around the "low mileage" tag too easilly. Hes a football player that saw the field extensively; hes not a ballerina.

FWIW, I hope we drop down a few spots and then grab a RB - whichever is left on the board. I dont like the idea of taking a RB in the top 3 unless he has the skillset of Barry Sanders or Bo Jackson. Thats just me.

BTW, Im going to be in London this week for work - do you want grab some drinks and talk football (or EPL?)?? :xii: Looks like I'll be visiting the UK quite frequently over the next few months :)

Hey Boomer,

How much & how far do nfl lbackers & safetys jog on a daily or weekly basis?

Ah typical. :fire: I have a week off - we're off to the North West for the week. When are you back and we will definitely hook up?

No worries, man. We'll so it next time. Im only in for one night and then Im off to a conference in Germany. I hope to be back in the UK at the end of the month. But then beers are on YOU :)

Hello from across the pond mate. Boomer, one guy that really intrigues me lately is Shawn Merriman. He had a terrific combine and many say he would be a great fit for the hybrid of flexible 3/4 we will probably be going to. I really don't know a lot about this guy. What can you tell me? Also, what would you think of him as our #2 pick?

Hello. Well he plays on 1 of only two 3-4 teams in the country, Maryland. Shawne is a junior and whenever I have seen him play, he is a real prescence out there. He weighed in much heavier than a lot of people imagined in Indianapolis, around, I think off the top of my head, the 272 mark. He could play end in a 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4. He is hugely athletic, can terrorise tackles getting after the QB, he looks good in coverage, getting good depth in his drops, playing quickly on the ball. He in fact could probably play MLB. He has a tremendous frame and I think the sky is the limit with this kid. His upside in monstrous.

I think 2 is too high for him. 7 is probably good value.

Thanks Boom. I understand value, but in this very unpredictable draft it sure sounds like Merriman would be an excellent pick for us. Especially if we get a #2 pick for Patrick. We could pick up one of the second tier RB's and have our cake and eat it too, so to speak.

Hey Boomer,
What are your thoughts on El Roberson of KSU, when is he predicted to be drafted and is there any chance the Fins would look into him.
