Kalen Ballage RB, Miami Dolphins

Kalen Ballage said he "absolutely" hopes to compete for the Dolphins' starting job this summer.
"It doesn’t really matter who had the most playing time in the past," Ballage said. "I’m ready to do my thing." Ballage earned offseason praise from Adam Gase's staff last year but ended up touching the ball only 45 times all season. With Gase gone and no notable runners added in free agency, Ballage will certainly have the opportunity for more work in 2019. It is possible additional competition will be added through the draft, but Ballage is currently only dueling with Kenyan Drake, who carried the ball more than 10 times only five times in 2018. Like Drake, Ballage has been a committee back even back to his college days.

and then there's this......I have no hope for this guy at this point. If he ever contributes fine but I'm not expecting it

Cordrea Tankersley DB, Miami Dolphins

Dolphins CB Cordrea Tankersley (torn right ACL) is "still limping."
Per reporter Armando Salguero, Tankersley "doesn't seem to have full extension in the leg." The No. 97 overall pick of the 2017 draft, Tankersley played 637 reasonably-promising rookie snaps before a shipwrecked sophomore campaign. He was riding the pine before tearing up his knee in practice in November. This bodes poorly for his odds of a 2019 bounce-back.

and some more

Mike Gesicki TE, Miami Dolphins

Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki said he has bulked up 13 pounds from his rookie playing weight of 240.
It is not a surprise after Gesicki often found himself physically dominated in 2018. Gesicki played a respectable 400 snaps but commanded only 32 targets. Tight end, of course, is an infamously difficult position for rookies to learn. Gesicki will be a candidate to take a step forward in 2019 for the Dolphins' undermanned skill corps.

Gesicki putting on more weight is the best news here. Hopefully he won't be getting bullied by smaller DB's now and he'll have the chance to show off his athleticism with some catches.

Thanks for the updates guys. Hopefully Gesicki looks 13 pounds stronger on the field lol

and not good with Tankersley... not good. Wonder if anyone would take him off us for a pick or trade up or something

Weighed 247 at the combine so I’d say probably gained 5 lbs.

Bummer about Tank. Still think they should find a way to hold onto him. If he can't practice, PUP him and kick the 53 man decision down to week 6.

No trying to be mean, but how do you use copy and paste to get the post in and then still spell the guys name wrong in the title??

As for the football, Ballage and Gesicki are auditioning for starting roles in 2020.

Ballage needs better mission and not go down so easily. He has beast size.

Ballage will be our backup but he will get his chance when the oft injured Kenyon Drake goes down. I see a lot of potential in Ballage, specially compared to Tankersley and Gesicki.

The two of them should be splitting carries and our running game will be solid again. Both these guys can go to the house any time they touch the ball. Same for Grant,Wilson,Stills so we should still have some exciting plays this season

Young players will have a chance. I still think Gesicki could be really good. Tankersley probably isn't a good fit for Flores. Both Ballage and Drake will have more of an opportunity now that Gore is in Buffalo. I don't think Miami will take a running back early, but it might be telling if they do.
