Baldy's break down of Tua for preseason raiders game

Yeah, that narrative was and still is just as tired and untrue as the weak arm fallacy.

Tua absolutely can and does go through progressions well. Trouble was, our offensive line was so bad that the offense last season and before was designed for quick throws, often an RPO. They wanted him making one or two reads max otherwise it was likely a sack or hurried throw.

But the anti Tua geniuses here can’t seem to recognize.
A lot of posters use the "ready, fire, aim" approach.

Then to show how "complex" their thinking is, they go out of their way to justify what they said, emphasizing the same mistake (doubling down on dumbness) - LOL

Once I get over my initial shock concerning their "circular erroneous reasoning", I take joy in explaining to them what they consider inconceivable, then watching them "keep going in circles" of a perceived self-justification.

There is an old Arab saying - You can't take back the spent arrow or spoken word.

Nothing new here - LOL

He had less than 2 seconds to pass the ball on the majority of his passes last year and yet he still completed over 65% of his passes. I believe he is excellent at getting his reads quickly and getting rid of the ball.

Perhaps when he feels more comfortable behind the OL and he gets more than 2 seconds to pass the ball, he will have the time to scan the field and find more open receivers.
I agree. He needs to a chance to have an actual NFL level OL. Then I think things will start to slow down a little and then the reads will improve.

More time to throw also equals more time for the receivers to get open.
Better & better - LOL

As long as he has to play behind a substandard OL, Miami will be average no matter who the Dolphins QB is. Even with just an average OL, I believe Tua can have a great season. We just have to wait and see if the OL can play at an average level this season.
Exactly right!

He’s not getting that it’s “reaction” to the nonstop negativity and trolling that’s dominated most threads the past 2 years. And, yes, trolling is an appropriate term considering the same group of anti posters continue to litter and devolve threads that either aren’t even about Tua or were created with the explicit ask to stay out of the thread that was created specifically for postivity.
Totally agree about the backhanded, off-topic bashing that goes on. A lot of it seems just plain mean spirited. No reason to twist the knife in unrelated topics.

As far as threads being solely for positivity, though, that, to me, is a bit of a "circle jerk" mentality. I'm not saying it's OK to just derail an overall positive thread with nonsense, but on the other hand, some of the criticisms are valid, and impetus for worthwhile discussion, as long as ppl have open minds. Even so, human nature being what it is, requesting that only positive posts be made in an OP is really just an invitation to trolls to infuriate ppl for kicks.

The only way around that is to start thread banning ppl for the simple reason that they do not share the same opinion, and that's a little extreme on any fan forum.

What are the groups thoughts on that Gesicki pass? IMO over the middle has been a weak point at times for Tua…sometimes his footwork seems off under pressure and he has made some errors over the middle.

On that Gesicki pass, live, it looked like a bad choice. But as Baldy shows, it hit him in the face!!! Granted, that Safety was about to kill him…kind of a hospital pass.

What do people think? Poor choice? Bad hands? A little of both?
It was a lazy route from Gesicki. Ya the DB was hand fighting him, but Gesicki really rounded of that route. If he made a sharpe cut inside it is an easy catch and 1st down. Like Baldy said it was a timing route/throw. The ball was in the air before he even broke. If Gesickis execution is better he gets around faster with an easy catch and the safety also would have had a worse angle as well.

MEH, it happens. MG has proven good hands, so I'm not even going to entertain that option. He needed to get his head around earlier on that particular play. He may have been worried about getting "lit up", and decided it wasn't worth it in a preseason game, but I kind of even doubt that. Catch the ball, or not, he was going to take the hit if it were coming either way, and I didn't see him trying to protect himself.

Just didn't get his head turned in time is my opinion.

Some good points to consider.

What really happened:
1) The pass was accurate and on target = a good pass
2) The receiver was not ready = the result of good defensive play or ineffective route running = a toss-up
3) A poor play call or excellent defensive play = a toss-up.

2 & 3 yield:
a) 50% Good defense.
b) 25% Poor play calling
c) 25% Poor receiver play

Overall, it looks like it was probably just plain good defense - our defense, which is also a good thing.
Steel sharpens steel! - LOL

Overall, I feel the QB did all he could and one way or another the defense was excellent.
No need to try and play the "blame game" as opposed to an honest analysis of the play to see what we can do to make it work in the future.

I've seen lots of movies where spent arrows are taken back from various species. 😀 Other than that detail, I agree. Lol

Man we're talking about a 6'5" TE... he should be the one putting DBs in the hospital... catch the ****ing ball...
Yeah, I agree, but I happened to watch the play again today and I'm leaning toward cutting Gesicki a little slack because it looks like the defender made contact with him right before he got his head around. He still has to catch that ball. That's the type of play Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews make all the time.

My post wasnt really about the drop, **** happens... Was more about people claiming hospital ball... There's no such thing when talking about a guy with Mike's size... If anything, DBs should be wanting to get out of the way...
