Barry Jackson Notes: Wharton, Finnegan and Marino

My mock has us taking LB Mosely or TE Ebron at 19, and LB Borland in the 3rd.
If we could land both LB's, we would really have a great nucleus going forward.
Regarding the OL, I think we sign some players after the final cuts to supplement the drafting of lower round picks at OG and OT.
I do not think Hickey will be able to completely overhaul the OL in one season. It will take 2 seasons to get all the players.
This year will be better than last years OL, but still not where it needs to be. It will be another patchwork unit.
Just mt .02

I'm with ya in hoping for a Mosely, Ebron, Clintn-Nix/Pryor at #19, a RT in the second, and BPA after that. With the draft being deep on the OL, there are going to be a number of good vets cut, and that's where I would go for OG's.

I would add two veteran guards in FA, leaving only a RT as a big need (I will harp on a swing OT later). That would free up a RT pick at 19 or maybe wait until the 2nd round.

Xavier Su'a-filo would be a tremendous pick, however,r at 19 if they do not land guards in FA. He is a safe pick and a longterm player in the NFL. I love that kid.

Morgan Moses would be a nice fit as well.

Helping a fellow Utahn & Ute fan.... I like Morris from Iowa & George from Iowa St.

Jackson from Western Kentucky is interesting but a project IMO.

Disclaimer: These are all ILB's. The Phins would better off to find a 3 down Mike backer and kick Ellerbe outside opposite Misi.

Have you looked at Smallwood from Uconn? I think he would have some position flexibility and would do well with pass coverage.

The article says the Fins want to look at "younger options" at guard. Who is that? LOL. It is not Wade Smith. Jeremy Zuttah getting cut? Strange comment.

I would like to see them get some visits going and do more in the interior.

Draft O line

Hoops might be right but I see a RB in the first 3 rounds. We need a RB

Miller is talented, and Thomas has had his moments when healthy- sketchy pass blocking on both, though. I'm not opposed to drafting a RB, but I'd rather sign a Knowshon Moreno in FA or draft an RB a bit later who slid, maybe a Jeremy Hill. I'd rather take a WR like Martavis Bryant or Allen Robinson in the 2nd or 3rd, or maybe a TE like CJ Fiedorowicz. Or OL for that matter, we need help there even if we draft Zack Martin at #19.

I like Jeremy Hill in the 3rd round at RB, he is a physical back who can do a little pass blocking as well.

I would not want to get Mosley seems near a McClain clone which is a 2 down linebacker.

Ebron would be awesome but I feel we will go oline

Please tell me you did not call Mosley a 2-down LB. The guy can cover great and would fit perfectly with our defense. Allowing R. Jones to roam (shines in that roll). Mosley is not a 2 down run thumping lb

I think Pryor is more a strong safety pro and Clinton Dix would not interest me in the top 20...the position player that would have me thinking long and hard at 19 is wr Marques lee...would fit like a glove...perfect for our system and upgrade the unit considerably...I just don't think we have the luxury as things stand elsewhere right now

at safety im not ruling out a Chris Clemons return after the draft...to compete and provide Delmas insurance...if not start again...another 1 year cheap pact...

I like the option of getting Wharton for a year or two while we develop some guys from the middle rounds. Would give us a solid couple of years and buy us some learning time and not force us to start a rookie if they are not ready yet.

Do what ever it takes to fix the line. I'm ok with with four draft picks going to address the problem. Anthony Steen, James Hurst, and Spencer Long are each coming off injury, but could be steals once healthy. I could live with Zach Martin, Anthony Steen, Brandon Thomas and James Hurst. That could result in o-line not being a priority for the next four years, especially if Dallas Thomas starts to come around this year too.

Everybody keeps suggesting signing a stop gap lineman for this year so Miami can draft a running back in the second or third round, but it might make more sense to sign a stop gap running back like Jones-Drew this year and look to the 2015 draft to address the position long term.

Invested at 5% gets you $ 1,750,000 per year that's $ 145,833 per month, I know he has alot of kids but he should be able to cover his expenses.

Marino lost a major portion of money in one investment in a company called Digital Domain from which he purchased 1,575,525 shares.

The company is popular for producing the famous hologram of dead rapper Tupac Shakur at the Coachella celebration . However, the company recently filed for bankruptcy, taking Marino’s stock with it.
According to reports, the 51-year old Marino’s investment may have resulted in a loss of $14 million.
