FOXBORO – The last time the Patriots were in Miami, they left Sun Life Stadium with a 24-20 loss. After speaking with the media on Wednesday morning, it’s safe to say Bill Belichick hasn’t forgotten.
The coach started his press conference praising the Dolphins as the Patriots start to dive into their game plan.
“We’re in a regular game week now. Wednesday is Wednesday,” Belichick said. “[We’ll] Update game preparation today. We’ll need it. Miami is obviously a good football team. They handled us down there last year and gave us a real competitive game up here. I think they’re good in all areas. Coach [Joe] Philbin’s done a good job with that team. They’ve got a good defense, a good front. Good cover guys. Have a good scheme – do a lot of different things.
“Offensively, they’ve got good skill players. A lot of guys can make plays – receivers, tight ends, backs, quarterbacks and they’re always good in the kicking game. We know that. They put a lot of pressure on your specialists. Protection is an issue for us… A lot of good players. Good coaches. Good team. We’ll have our hands full.”
Neither game with the Dolphins last year was easy. The Patriots dropped their Week 15 matchup with Miami and had a tough start against their division foes in Week Eight. Down 17-3 at the half, the Pats started slow before coming away with the 27-17 win.
“Their offensive style is a lot different than it was last year,” Belichick said. “What they’re doing now is a lot different than last year.”
