Sounds like If and When Miami signs Bell, they'll release Howard. That'll give Miami some wiggle room financially to keep most of the current cap carry over into next season.

Howard's salary is fully guaranteed this year. It would simply be dead cap if we dropped him.

Next year he has nothing guarenteed, so he wouldn't cost us anything. But there would be no extra money carried over.

I agree with you here. But i think as much as they're looking towards the future they're also looking at this season to win as much as they can. I think they don't really feel they have a capable back behind Gaskin.

Hell, Look how they're using Bredia now. He's pretty much the guy that comes in to run screen type plays tipping the defense off. When he runs between the tackle he looks he's going to break or fumble(I think he almost lost the ball on 2 different occassions).

My understanding is that Bell can do everything and helps keep the defense honest.

I wouldn't worry too much about Howard's salary... in NFL terms, it was minimal, and the other FAs have mostly worked out. We knew we wouldn't hit on 100% of them... and face it, we had to spend the cash.

I'd say they know they are rebuilding. But at the same time they do not want a repeat of last year. If your goal is not to win every game in the NFL, you won't have a job for long. I doubt flores will let the team go 5-11 because of the expectations outside people have

I really think they believe they can possibly get into the playoffs with help from a quality runner and pass catcher out of the backfield. We have played every game fairly close against playoff caliber teams for the most part. I think they'll make moves if they have an opportunity and that's why they have interest in Bell.

Of course, If we lay an egg this week plans are subject to change

Yea I can see that point of view, but also will depend if he will feel more limited since they have a 1st round rb they are using so he would have to split alot of time with other rb's. Granted also kind of the case in Miami but Brieda and Gaskins are his competition here so depends if he feels he would outplay them.
