Honestly I think it's sort of foolish to argue who's offense is better since they will never actually matchup, but since we're on the subject, lets go shot for shot.
First of all, I am a Jets fan, but I try as hard as I can to be unbiased. That being said, I feel like the Jets are better for one major reason: chemistry.
The Jets have a solid unit put together without controversy, where as the Dolphins have a lot up in the air still. It'll be settled down in a few weeks anyway but in the meantime it's very hard to put out a strong unit when jobs aren't solidified.
The huge knock on Chad is that he hasn't played a full season yet, but guess what, he just started his first opening game, and that's a step towards achieving that. On top of that, he is simply unbelievable. The most valuable Jet by far.
As for the Dolphin QB situation, AJ Feeley can be VERY GOOD. Then again, he might suck. He might suck and it might not even be his fault. He's got very good receivers to throw to with Chambers and Booker (great trade acquiring him btw). But anyhow, I'm not too familiar with the offensive line of the Dolphins but from what I was able to gather from the Dolphins fans they are young and talented. What this means is you'll see a lot of games where they are dominant, and others where they look like they never graduated from high school. You'll also see a LOT of penalties on the offensive line which will degrade the quality of the offense as a whole.
Secondly, you must consider how defenses are going to gameplan for the Fins. Now that Booker is out there, teams can't double team Chambers anymore, advantage Dolphins. This should make the passing attack and big play potential very potent for Miami. Then again, now that Ricky is gone, nobody is stacking 8 in the box anymore, and in fact will back off and focus on the passing attack, because at the very moment, Lamar Gordon scares NOBODY.
Being that Lamar Gordon is an unknown in the league at this point, he might change everyones minds, but a large part of that is going to have to depend on how well the offensive line plays. If it falters, so does Gordon, if it shines, so does Gordon.
My point is the entire Dolphin offense is relying heavily on the offensive line to come through, because if Gordon isn't tearing up opposing defenses, the Fins are going to be seeing a LOT of blitzes, and the quarterbacks are going to get ABUSED.
Look at the Giants offense... at the skill positions they are extremely talented, but the oline is so weak that they can't do a damn thing. You just have to hope the same doesn't happen to the Fins.
Other points I'd like to make are about the coaching. In my eyes, Wanny is by and far the worst in the league, and how he still coaches to this day amazes me. He was terrible in Chicago, and is now terrible here. I've never seen a coach single handedly take a team as awesomely talented as the Fins and single handedly ruin them like Wanny did. Coaching is the most important part of any team in the entire league. Great offenses and great defenses can win games for you, but only great coaching can bring home a super bowl victory for you.
I don't like the Dolphins chances this season completely because of Wanny. There's hope once he's gone, but in the meantime, expect frustration and anger. Trust me, as a Jets fan I've seen plenty of terrible coaches and know what it's like.
Anyways, on a side note, it's very hard to compare the Jet receivers to the Dolphin receivers. First off, Chambers and Moss are two totally different kinds of receivers. Chambers is a possession receiver, Moss a speed receiver. Both of them had nobody to take pressure off of them last year, and now they both do, so they'll both probably have better seasons. Booker is a possession receiver as well, and also acted alone, just like Moss and Chambers did. Having Chambers oppposite him will make him a much better receiver (he's already damn good), and it probably means Chambers will be used more often in a speed type of role than in the past. McCareins is by far the least proven of the group, but similar to Chambers, he's a possession receiver with some speed under him, and the potential to go deep. Last year was his "breakout" year, and he's a solidified number 2 in New York now, rather than the number 3 receiver like he was with the Titans. His stats from last season were pretty impressive... 47 catches, 40 of which were first downs. And then 7 touchdowns...for a number 3 receiver!!! McCareins can be VERY good, and unlike Moss, he caught everything that was thrown his way last Sunday.
Both the Jets and Dolphins have VERY good receivers. The Dolphins receivers are definitely more proven, but the offense they are running with isn't, so I'm probably going to hand the advantage to the Jets for the O.
Simply put, the Jets are better for one reason and one reason only: coaching.
Thank you and good night.
