the obvious answer is Mare. The man doesn't miss when we need it most.

except when he has two chances in regulation vs the pats from the dirt infeild to win, and we go to overtime and Brady wins with a bomb!! Dang i can not wait for the marlins to get their own home.

niether can i, i really dont like them, mostly cause im a braves fan but also cuase they wreck our field

I think chris chambers will be our key offensive player and ronnie brown will be the runner up. guys when it comes to kicking even the best of the best has a bad year or two but that shouldn't mean that mare is a bad kicker.

Based on past performance, I'd say it's absolutely Wes Welker. Some of the other players on the poll are more talented, but when it comes to clutch play, nothing beats Welker coming in, with no practice time as a kicker, and converting a PAT and a 30-some-yard field-goal. And he hadn't kicked since college, and that was, IIRC, one attempt.

That's the definition of clutch, my friends.

Wes Welker seems to have a large fanbase on this site, but i'm not positive he'll make the team. He's a great special teams player, but I don't think he can contribute on offense, and if another player emerges as a return threat, than he's expendable, IMO. I would have to take Mare, as long as he doesn't have to kick off the dirt. Jason Taylor is by far the best player on the team, but I think it's difficult for a defensive end to be classified as a "clutch" player.

Yeah, I posted my answer before the OP edited the post to say who "will be" our best clutch player.

The answer to that question is: "Who knows?" Out of the listed choices, I guess I'd expect it to be either Chris Chambers or Olindo Mare, with Jaosn Taylor as a solid candidate.

Can't forget Zach Thomas either.

yeha i should of put zach, his big hits are always clutch and a good source to fire up the crowd and team

But if theres 3 seconds left, and its a 53 yarder. We're in better shape then most teams are with mare.
Good point and I think very true. (I hope we didn't just jinx him)

Oh of course. But im just saying the obvious. Mare never seems to let us down when it comes to making the kick to win the game. now sure theres people on here that willa rgue hes gotten worse every year, and he has a bit. But if theres 3 seconds left, and its a 53 yarder. We're in better shape then most teams are with mare. (ask the jets, look what they used there 2nd pick on because there so desperate for what we take for granted)
At the end of the Browns game last season (which we won on a long Mare field goal) they showed a statistic that said Mare had missed only like three game-tying/game-winning field goals in his career. The guy was hurt last season but he's still pretty reliable, not Vanderjagt or anything but reliable nonetheless.

I don't believe any player on the defense has been very clutch in the past, I just recall too many late leads being lost because the defense was soft. Perhaps your definition of clutch is different than mine, but being a "playmaker," and "clutch," to me are two totally different things. I don't know if it applies to football but in Moneyball, perhaps the greatest sports book ever written, IMO, it's stated that nobody is really clutch, and players will always perform to there batting average. I don't know if there is an equation that can be applied to football from it, but I agree with it.
