Yeah yeah i know i'm going to get flamed. And before i even vote i know that Joey Porter is going to win in a landslide because he's a freakin household name and one of the only players on our entire team that gets serious media coverage.

But yeah, i'm gonna say Yeremiah Bell. This guy has been a soldier since he got here. We picked him in the 6th round, and he's done nothing but work hard and make the big plays when we've needed him to. He keeps his mouth shut, and he has perserverence. He's had a few season ending surguries but my man keeps commin back.

Bell plays coverage, gets after the QB, and stops the run.

Porter is too one-dimensional for me to say he's had the most impact. Yeah yeah 12 sacks are great, but thats all he does. He never covers, he's not bad against the run, but yeah he's a one-dimensional player.

Granted Joey brings enthusiasm and leadership to our team, but i feel that Yeremiah is the guy who deserves my vote.

Oh yeah and please post after voting. I wanna hear some reasoning behind your ballot!

Merling has done nothing to warrant best defensive player on this team. I voted for Ferguson because he is the cog that stops the run. Sure Roth might set the edge well and Porter gets after QBs like no other but without JFerg this team would probably be allowing 100 yards rushing per game or more.

I know most might not think so, but I think its been Andre Goodman. He has really stepped up his game this season. The only game he was a little off was against Houston when he was trying to cover Andre Johnson 1 on 1, but he did have an interception in that game. He has been outstanding IMO this season breaking up passes.

I had to vote for Yeremiah. Without him our secondary would be absolute garbage like it was last year. The man is having a breakout year and I am thrilled because I knew it would only be a matter of time.

i voted Porter because of his 13.5 sacks, and also because of his leadership, his fiery passion to win and help his team win,and also because i like good to great LBs,and Joey Porter is a great OLB IMO...

i dunno man, GREAT OLB's are multi-dimensional. They can cover, stop the run, and get big sacks.

So far, porter's strength has been pass rushing. He's more of a 4-3 defensive end than a 3-4 OLB in my book.

Will Allen!!! One of the most underrated players in the league IMO. The comment about Joey Porter being one dimensional is rediculous though. When Miami got hiom he was reguarded as a very good cover LB, I've seen other posts about his bad coverage skills though and I have NO CLUE where you people are getting that from. Joey is also good vs. the run BTW. Now Has Joey been in coverage much this season? NO but that's not because he's bad at it, it's because he's to this point of the season the best pass rusher in the league so they send him after the QB on just about every play.

To me, it is hard to say what is a better defensive player. It is like asking if your LT is more important to you or better than your star WR. There are different things to consider. Bell has more tackles. Porter has the most sacks on the team, but this team as a whole gets pressure alot. What's more important? Having more tackles than your leading LB is pretty impressive and says that you are a ball hawk, you remember that broken up 2 point conversion from Seattle don't you. It's like comparing two halfs of a coin. To me Bell is the most important player against the Pass, Ferguson is the most important player against the Run, and Porter is a combination of things, ie. getting to the passer on pass plays, being a team leader on defense, and sealing the edge on running plays. Who gets more recignition? Porter of course because sacks is the Bently of defenses. But they are all VERY important to this defense.

:up:I agree, He had a good year before he got hurt too. I think he ia a major reason for our improved secondary.

I have to go with Peezy, I mean not just for the 13.5 sacks but for the whole aurora and what he's done for this defense, giving them a real cut throat no nonsense attitude. Bell has been immense still, but can't be compared to Joey's influence this year.

Uh, how the **** could you have Crowder up there? He's admitted that he's average at best.. during a contract year, no less. Not too bright, that one.

This guy knows what he's talking about.
