Best Homefield Advantage In Nfl?

That stat is more a reflection of how comparatively abysmal we are on the road compared to at home. We are possibly the WORST road team in the league over the last 2+ decades.

I think it was 09 or 10 where we won 6 road games and won 2 home games. At one point we were good on the road lol.

Two of the canes home games there last year were very reminiscent of the OB times. Ridiculously loud and a huge advantage for the home team.
Yea I know the crowd is younger but that place holds in the sound and a packed house with an important game on the line I could see it being a big home field advantage like the OB use to be.

Virginia Tech and Notre Dame were extremely loud and rowdy. That did feel like the old days. My ears were ringing. The loudspeaker played a role since it was turned up to the extreme, creating artificial noise. Everything in this stadium is kind of contrived, while the Orange Bowl held everything on its own.

Regardless, much more difficult to transplant to the NFL. Those Canes games last season were at night. Plus the younger fans are more active and stay in their seats. With daytime Dolphin games no matter the announced attendance you can see empty blocks of seats all over the place, with fans watching in lounges, etc.

Obviously many tickets belong to fans of the opposing team. And the 12 minute halftime is a disaster. That effectively removes 1/8 of the game from home field impact. The fans simply aren't in their seats during that first half of the third quarter. Many Hispanic fans have a tendency to show up late or tailgate longer in the parking lot so those 1 pm kickoffs aren't exactly full blast at kickoff either.

I may take some grief for that generality but I'll stand by it. After all, I have 50+ years of comparison shopping in this city. But at least it is not as bad as Canes games kicking off at noon. Those are the ones that always accounted for those near-empty mocking photos taken at kickoff.

Dolphins can have a terrific home field advantage if the team becomes dominant again and the games are considered the place to be...with several of them contested at night.

All of this is very accurate, only thing I I would add is it’s not just the Latino crowd who gets to their seats late for start and beginning of third quarter, big disadvantage if we’re taking the field in defense during those parts of the game.

We need young fans, we need this team to win so it can be cool to like the dolphins.

Everybody is screaming about 1 pm games . . . . But I agree as much as the heat plays a role in games, if this team is winning games and gets a home playoff game at night (or a big regular season game with playoffs on the line) . . . .that stadium is going to ROCK.

This is an event town . . .you have seen it with the big 3 Heat and you saw it with the undefeated Canes last year in those 2 prime time games. If the Dolphins finally get good consistently the crowd will be OB like and now they have a setup that can at least compete with those days and the noise that used to get made.

Hard to believe. The stadium is never full and opposing team's fans are in abundance. If the team is playing better at home and putrid on the road then that's on the coaches.

Then you haven't been to a game lately. The Cardinals game in 2016 was absolutely electric

The heat and humidity play a huge role as well. Teams just aren't prepared for it especially during September 1pm games.

I was going to post something similar but you beat me to it...

It is true, some of the additions in the past few years were specifically designed to hold in sound and make the stadium much louder with any kind of decent crowd there.
