In postgame press conference. Said he knew it all year, but didn't want it to be a huge story hanging over the team.

Yep, great career. No better way to go out than with a championship. Congrats to Jerome on the SB and his HOF career.

I'm happy for Jerome. I've liked him his entire career at ND, then the Rams with Tony Banks, & now with Pittsburgh. Even though I wanted the Colts to win I didn't want to see Bettis go out like that. If it weren't for Cohwer I'd be less disappointed.

He will get in the HOF, but he isn't a HOF back in my opinion.

Was never one of the best backs in the league at any time in his career. But he played so many years he just complied numbers so he will get in.

I used to like Bettis, but the hype around him this year wore me out. He's been a backup for like 3 years now, overweight and strictly a short yardage guy. Im glad hes gone, the storyline with him and his parents and all that got old about a year ago. Good for him, take your ring and have a good retirement but lets get back to hyping players that actually start and produce now.

Yeah that sure worked.....no story at all there.

I agree. He only had 3 or 4 really great years, the rest were good but nothing to write home about. He only averaged ove 4yds a carry 4 years and only had double digit Tds twice over his career. A good career no question but hes a seriously borderline HOFer IMO.

I completely agree.

 Yea he managed to keep that low profile all year and never made his story bigger than the team eh?:rolleyes2

Must be nice to be able to go out on top. Congrats to him. I've always had respect for him even though he was never a "great" RB.

I'm just glad he didn't say we'll wait & see in a couple weeks after I have time to think, like Elway did.

Bettis had some great years....i think he played a couple years too long so you all forgot.

Not shabby at all. Congrats to the Bus, enjoy your retirement, you definitely earned it.

Bettis deserves to be in the HOF, IMO. He was an incredibly consistent back. In his case, it's about what you do, not how you do it.

If Warren Moon can make it his first time, anyone has a shot, just my opinion. I think JB will make it his first or second time.
