Big O Ireland interview: "picking starters will be a collaborative effort".

Soooooo.... Still no link?

I just don't see coaches like Mike Sherman and Kevin Coyle letting a punk like Ireland push them around.

He's the GM. He's gonna pick the players. If we draft a RT and a TE, and bring in Flynn and still draft a QB in the mid rounds, he's gonna look real smart, real quick. Give it time

What I get out of that is Ireland and Philben are going to review the roster and decide who the possible starters are. Take Jerry for example, they could decide he will be able to handle the starting RT job thus not making it a priority to fill that position via the draft or FA. Which in the long run gives Ireland a better plan of attack for filling our holes this offseason.

where is Big O nowadays? I liked listening to him because he only talked about the Fins. WQAM pooped the bed on that decision. Joe Rose's voice annoys the $#!t out of me. I'd rather light myself on fire than listen to Michael Irving, and Sid is just a complete @$$#%le.

640 wmen am. I listen on my computer at work, I like to listen to his show because he talks about the Phins about 95% of the time. I'm from Pennsylvania so I really don't care to listen to Heat, Marlins, and Panthers talk. Get alot of that on 560 & 790

Troy Stratford is also on in the am, get a lot of Phins talk there too.

Actually, i thought i remember reading somewhere where Ireland said that picking players (not starters) would be a collaborative process. Perhaps that is what he meant or perhaps the OP misunderstood what Ireland was saying.

"Are we continuing to build? Yes. We'll continue to build around what Joe Philbin's vision is, and with some collaborative effort from what I'm looking for."Ireland said he believes that his 6-10 team has the potential to be good, but knows that isn't enough in South Florida, especially with the Heat and perhaps even Ozzie Guillen's Marlins surpassing the Dolphins in buzz factor. Good is just not good enough. We've got to be great," Ireland said. "We've got to work on getting the pieces together to make a much bolder statement in South Florida. "We want championships. We want wins.""

That doesn't look or sound to me like he wants to pick the starters.

I'm hearing this is false and that Jeff Ireland merely said that formulating the roster will be a collaborative effort, which I'm OK with. At least, as OK as can be expected given that Jeff Ireland remains the GM.

Here is for all the doubters who questioned what I heard, see if YOU take this out of context. Click on link, click hour 2, start at 9 minutes, then listen to Big O's response starting at 12 mins. He ought to know what Ireland said, he asked the question!! Are you all happy, here's your link.

Probably because Ireland is tired of Bess returning kicks...
