just stop it, NE beat you on the field.
I'll give the batted ball call to the refs and Patriots...hard to make that judgment call but that's left to the discretion of the refs. But the PI call and the non-PI call were game changers....GAME CHANGERS. When calls determine the outcome of a game then there's no way you can possibly, or I can't possibly say, that the Patriots beat us on the field. The Cleveland game showed how the refs can easily affect the outcome of a game as they cost the Browns the win. The penalty before the onside kick to put the ball 15 yards farther up the field...the PI call in the end zone...you could say the Pats would have scored anyway...but then why not make them earn it instead of giving it to them?
Some people will say that fans are just whining about the Pats but lets look a little closer.
Dolphins game - Against us we were winning 17-3 at the half, we had 3 penalties for 36 yards (one PI call), Pats had 3 penalties for 15 yards. 2nd half Pats had 2 penalties for 20 yards, Dolphins 4 penalties for 25 yards.
Pitt game - NE was winning 24-10 at the half, Pitt had 6 penalties for 64 yards (2 of those were PI calls), Pats had 1 penalties for 15 yards. 2nd half Pats had 2 penalties for 15 yards, Pitt 2 penalties for 32 yards (one PI call).
Carolina game - Carolina winning 10-3 at the half, Carolina had 3 penalties for 25 yards, Pats had 3 penalties for 35 yards. 2nd half Carolina had 5 penalties for 28 yards (one PI call), Pats had 1 penalties for 5 yards.
Denver game - Denver winning 24-0 at the half, Denver had 4 penalties for 45 yards, Pats had 2 penalties for 15 yards. 2nd half Denver had 3 penalties for 25 yards. Pats had 3 penalties for 21 yards (one PI call).
Texans game - Texans winning 17-7 at the half, Texans had 2 penalties for 25 yards (one PI call), Pats had 0 penalties for 0 yards. 2nd half Texans had 0 penalties for 0 yards. Pats had 0 penalties for 0 yards.
Cleveland game - Cleveland winning 6-0 at the half, Cleveland had 2 penalties for 10 yards, Pats had 2 penalties for 10 yards. 2nd half Cleveland had 6 penalties for 75 yards (3 PI calls). Pats had 4 penalties for 31 yards.
So with the exception of the Denver game, in which their QB has as much star power as Brady, and the Texans game where there were no penalties called on either team in the 2nd half, nearly every game saw an increase in penalties called on the opposing team in the 2nd half and there were 9 PI calls go against the opposing team playing the Pats and only 1 called on the Pats in the Denver game (who as I mentioned has a QB with as much star power as Brady). Now Aquib Talib has been called for 4 or 5 defensive holding calls in all those penalties noted but not one PI call. McCourty also has a defensive holding call but no PI call. The PI call for the Pats was on Rob Ninkovich. I find it amazing that in 6 games not one PI call was made on a Patriots DB, yet 9 PI calls were committed against the Patriots. Two of the PI calls yesterday against Cleveland lead to Pats TDs. There was a defensive holding call on a two-point attempt that the Pats failed on but got a 2nd chance because of the penalty. There was a unnecessary roughness call with less than a minute on the Browns that allowed them to try their onside kick from the 50 yard line instead of the normal 35 giving them a shorter field should they recover...critical when you don't have timeouts and you have less than a minute to score and win the game. Then of course there was the PI in the end zone which was not PI. All of which seems way too coincidental for me.
