Bills release Dolphin Killer Thad Lewis!

A practice squad quarterback beat us twice last year to keep us out of the playoffs. Yep that's the Dolphins

Miami's defense gave up 20.9 points per game, good for 8th best in the league, and Thad averaged 21 points per game against us.

Buffalo's defense gave up 24.2 points per game and Tannehill averaged 10.5 points against their defense.

I don't think Coyle is the one that needs to be embarrassed over those performances...

Coyle should be embarrassed because their 3rd string qb was able to lead them to their average point output for the season against us. No body is off the hook for those games

Actually he didn't. Because Tannehill gave Buffalo a bunch of their points.

A lot of blame can be passed around for those losses. Ireland would be first and foremost in my book. You certainly can't say Tannehill was good, or even mediocre. And Philbin/Sherman probably could have done some things differently. But to say Coyle is the one that deserves the scarlett letter is just plain silly. His defense did a decent job with zero help from the offense, actually scratch that, not only did his offense not help him, they helped the other team.

nightmare scenario: Jets sign Thad Lewis and name him starter.

Really though I don't think it was as much Thad as it was no pass rush. If I remember correctly he had all day to throw and had wide open running lanes if nothing was there.

Our defense gave up over 200 yards rushing in one of the losses and didn't force turnovers against a practice squad qb that is already unemployed so yes they deserve some blame. The offense deserves most of the blame but lets not act like the defense was good in game 2.

In those 2 games versus the Bills we scored 21 pts...Dan Carpenter scored 18 pts
Dan Carpenter killed us not 0 td and 2 int Chad Lewis

Considering the 6 sacks, injury to Tannehill and 14 yards of rushing, I'd put this one mostly on the late Jim Turner.

It also speaks to how we play "down" to our competition. When was the last time we truly blew out an opponent that we should have?
Anytime we play the Raiders.

That said I believe that team is much improved and I expect a competitive contest over in London.

Here's a stat for you:

Every team in the top 10 in defensive points per game had double digit wins, every team but us that is. I believe average win totals for teams in top 10 in points per game against was over 11. Thats not even including playoffs, and we were the only team that didn't make the playoffs of the teams in the top 10 in defensive points per game.

And going back two years we're actually 5th in defensive points per game with Seattle, San Fran, Carolina and the Bengals ahead of us.

But yeah, Kevin Coyle is the problem....

The Bill's QB's blow....but they always look like Hall of Famers against us.

You don't think Coyle should be embarrassed that his defense gave up 21 points to an undrafted practice squad player who couldn't beat out Jeff tuel?
