Bleacher Report Ranks Miami’s Offense 18th out of 32 Teams

Do you agree? Two years ago, Miami was number one in offense. Last year, the Dolphins were in the bottom half of the league.

As the article points out, Tua played all 17 games in 2023. I thought the writer fairly listed Miami's offensive line as a concern. Specifically, can Paul step into the void left by Armstead and hold his own? I believe he will.

I also think the Dolphins will be in the top 10 offensively. The biggest issue last season, besides Tua missing six games, was the short-yardage offense. At least on paper, the Dolphins look improved with Daniels and Savaiinaea added at guard, Brown at tight end and Gordon/Mattison at running back.

Miami's wide receiver depth also should be better. As always, Tua’s health is paramount to any success on offense.
Teams have figured put how to defend McDs offense and we cannot run the ball effectively , especially in short yardage and GL. Not surprising

When you have a QB who can only play 9 or 10 games a year that is where you get ranked
I have no problem with it and don’t think it’s lazy at all
Yet if you took the time to read the article you'd see the author plopped the Phins at 18 because he said the Phins o-line has to protect Tua better in order for Tua to actually play in all the games. Even you wouldn't argue that Tua repeatedly puts himself in harms way and the o-line can't really be faulted for most if not all of his injuries. Tua seeks out the danger, and the only way the author would know the true root of Tua's injuries, and not just lazily follow the national narrative of the o-line getting Tua killed, would be to do some work, watch some film, and come up with a better take.

Hopefully, that's an area where we'll see big improvement. On paper, the talent is there but the running game is also a mentality of not being denied on 4th and one.

We’ll see. If Daniel’s comes back from his Achilles and is ready to start with no setbacks. If Patrick paul improves and can hold down LT spot. If Tua can stay healthy, a top 10 offense isn’t out of the question assuming that our upgrades in the middle of the oline, and at blocking TE and perhaps with Ollie Gordon, we may have solved our short yardage issues from last year and should be able to pick up 3 yards and a cloud of dust between the tackles which is what we were lacking last season. That would also help us along with an upgraded more stout front 7 against good teams and in cold weather.
Weather.

I foresee Waddle becoming WR 1 this year. The offense will be better for it too…
I think being overly reliant on Hill has hurt the team. To be fair, Hill played through the wrist injury last year and had some uncharacteristic drops. Otherwise his numbers could have more closely matched 2023.

I do wonder how Hill might respond if he's not the focal point of the offense?

Hill has proven unreliable at this point until he proves otherwise. If I was Tua or McDaniel, I wouldn’t count on him, unless he changes his behavior. Quitting on the team was unforgivable. Going through his divorce isn’t going to help. Achane in the passing game along with Waddle still gives you lots of speed. Hill is still a threat when he’s on the field, I just wouldt make him the focal point of the offense because you can’t trust a guy like that. Maybe one of these bigger new targets will contribute as well such as Ikhine, or Armstrong along with Taj Washington? The wr core could be 4 deep even before factoring in Reek if you count Achane on some snaps.

Targeting Jonnu and Achane a combined 198 times underneath wasn't countering defenses geared to take away the deep pass? That's 34% of targets. Their combined 166 catches were 40% of the team's completed passes.
Agree, but without a running game or solid blocking from its Oline, TE and WR unit. That never worked, very well. Sure it was a higher percentage short passing game but it wasnt completely successful in getting defenses off of Hill and Waddle; or helping open running lanes.

Not necessarily. Two points: not sure the team is done adding players there. Let’s see where we are in August before we make that assessment. If we get enough pressure from our front 7 our secondsry can be average and we’ll be fine.
It’s probably a better idea to work off concrete information than a random assumption.

Being average would mean we are ranked somewhere between 13-17.

Based on what we know - we have currently a bottom 3 safety unit and after Ramsay is gone, will be a bottom 2 or 3 cornerback room. Combine those 2 units together and you ABSOLUTELY have the worst secondary in the NFL.

Now, is there hope we add 1-2 pieces? Of course.

Should we *hope* these players punch above their weight, the pass rush is insane, and they do perform to league average? Of course.

But should we *expect* this? Only if you like to be continually disappointed.

That’s up to you

All I’m saying is that we should at least wait until we know what they have added or not to that unit before we make such bold statements one way or another. Once Ramsay is traded post June 1, they’ll have like $25 million in cap space or not counting what they may have spent on rookie class, certainly enough to bring in a couple of vets to improve the secondary. You can make you bold assessments as well of course, but your information as of this moment is incomplete, so make of that what you will….

Hey I hope they use that cap space well too… So then should we just not respond in this thread until that time? I’d say basing your assessment off of facts is better than assumptions - not to sound like a dick - it certainly makes the information complete. We can make new threads to discuss new players when we get them… with the new facts we have then.

As of right now? This is set to be the 32nd ranked pass defense.

Just curious, what couple vets would you think we could bring in that would be worth a damn at this point?

This offseason was partially about preparing for life without Hill. The Westbrook-Ikine signing may prove to be significant, and was definitely somewhat under the radar.

The first four undrafted free agents signed were all wide receivers, including Baldwin who has some Hill like traits. The 4.32 speed anyway. Miami might be able to stash him on the practice squad.

I read the whole article. It’s doesn’t matter and doesn’t change what I said. Whether it’s Tua the OLine or Kamala Harris’ fault, our QB doesn’t finish too many seasons. What don’t you understand or what can’t you comprehend about the facts.
