bottom line: this one's on Linehan

I think he has done a poor job of playcalling, but you can't say the loss is on him. Our secondary was not very good and Gus is abysmal. The third down call was a very bad call, but the throw was even worse. It would seem like you would have to try and throw a ball that bad. This is a guy who is used to having the best passing game in football and now he has Gus (which is partly his fault), so he is a bit out of his element. I think when we bring in a good QB he will be a fine OC (as long as he gives up on the reverse thing).

Does that mean that any play he runs is ok....just because of the possibility of it working would make people think he is a genius? :rolleyes2

He does not know how to handle a R&R combo running tandem. He would rather put it on the shelf and win using trickery so that people like you will point and say "did you see that quadruple reverse get us a TD!!"
When you have high percentage plays to use during crucial 3rd and short yardage, you simply don't try to get cute...use what you have been using to get that first down.

no you misunderstood me, the playcalling mad me sick today, has been most of the season, i want ricky and ronnie to combine for 40+ touches every game. im just making the point(or attempting to) that IF the play had worked all else from this game would have been forgotten(of course he still might have had overtime to blow it agian!) we heard all these great things about linehan before the season but he looks to me like me should be with USC or something where he could acually have playmakers. i dont know if he is really what we thought, maybe it was minnesota's playmakers.

That is the difference between the 2 past dolphins regimes. No one wants to see run, run, run, punt. But pass, pass, pass, punt is even worse. Balance is the key(cliche1). And no you dont run it always on 3&2. The pass wasnt a bad play call, the int was. You go for the endzone while you can(cliche2). If not, your right your running backs are making the yardage so you run them on 4th down. Safer bet would be run on 3rd and try the pass on 4th. But yeah do somthing. Play calling this whole season has been suspicious. Denver game no one complained because they all worked. The reverse, the long bomb. For some reason this team aint responding now on 3rd downs on both sides of the ball.

Hate to say this but if we lose the next game we might as well kiss this season goodbye. Cause we would be 3-6 and best we could hope for would be a 7-0 or 6-1 finish that is highly unlikely. With that said next week we should win.

The stat they showed during the game was Artlanta had completed the pass 41 times to wrs in the previous 7 games? This also includeing Schaub getting time at QB. Against us 11 completions to wrs. Sure i wanted them to run the ball more, but its not the only reason we lost.
