The Sun-Sentinel has learned Bowles, who led the Dolphins to a 2-1 record as Tony Sparano’s replacement in the season’s final month, won’t become defensive coordinator, or named a secondary coach on Philbin’s staff.
He will be released from his contract with the team, and is free to work with any NFL club that pursues his services.

The Miami DolPhilbins are hard at work making a new staff.

The same day we interview Kevin Coyle we release Bowles. Seems like we will announce our new DC pretty soon.

Well...coyle is a db coach,he may want to implement the way he does things..you can be a position coach and a coordinator can't you?

good move imo.....nothing to do with him but we're going to distance ourselfs from a bad past.....out with the old and in with the new.

Ozzy rules!!

I don't see what the love fest was with Bowles, he coached a secondary that three years to develop Vontae Davis and Sean Smith, failed to develop Clemons and Jones and the year before last couldn't catch a cold let alone intercept a football. Besides the Raiders interview no one is pounding down the door for interviews.

OK, just to note, I'm 100% behind Joe Philbin as our coach. But I DO want to say that if there was any truth to Mike McCoy NOT getting the job due to his reluctence to retain Todd Bowles, well then we ended up at that point with coach Philbin anyway, so here's hoping that Ross DID indeed make the right hire with Joe Philbin - because we don't have Todd Bowles any more on the staff. It's just kind of frustrating sometimes as we watch how this team handles itself and we often STILL MANAGE to get results we were hoping to avoid from the get-go. Funny how we do that a lot isn't it?

Again, please be the right man for the job, regardless of who the DC is Mr. Philbin!

Maybe mike mccoy can have closure now...no one wants him as the top dawg

In fact, a better way of looking at it might be: If Mike McCoy didn't get the job because he was lukewarm towards Bowles, what did Philbin do? Did he assure Ross he would keep Todd, only to go back on that now (now that he's been hired)? Nice move, coach! You basically felt the same way McCoy did, you just didn't show your cards (you lied to your boss) until you had the job in hand. Well playes, sir!

You're a sly dude, you know that! :)

Not sure why so many ppl are in love with this guy. The way I've seen his DB unit is they have underachieved the last few years. I wish him the best, but really, big deal.

If you seriously believed that happened...
