No but, what if we had a QB rated as the BPA, should we have taken him? BPA isn't always the best option. We have one GLARING need and we filled it with a player that will come in and start from day 1, at the position of glaring need. Do you know if James is a stud or not? Do you know if he isn't a stud at a position of need? How do you know he isn't worth where he was drafted? You don't, so don't answer.

If a QB that you rated high was there, you take him. Tannehill hasn't proved anything yet, except that he can't connect with our speed receiver on a bomb and can lay eggs in high pressure games. If Bortles had been there, I would have been screaming at the TV to take him. You sit him behind Tannehill year one. When Tannehill is a FA, you keep him if he matures and trade Bortles or keep Bortles if you are not sold on Tannehill and let Ryan walk. You also can release Moore and save 5 million in cap space. This allows you to pick up another FA to help in areas of need.

Just what we DON"T need.....another so called "fan" who cuts & runs when the going gets tough.....something tells me that when the Fins eventually get back in contention again you'll claim that they were always your favorite team and you're happy you stayed Dolphins fan.

You also have absolutely no clue regarding the needs of this team.

In reality, the Dolphins had ONLY three options and they all involved taking an O Lineman....their choices were 1. Move up for Z. Martin, 2. Stay put at #19 and pick there or 3. Trade the pick and move down and get an O Lineman (probably J. James there anyway) there & picking up another pick.

I, along with many other KNOWLEDGEABLE fans thought option 1 OR 3 would have been best but of course the Fins went with #2, using it to fill the spot desperately needed but a little too high and "unsexy".

With all the crap that happened with the O Line last year and it's current mediocre condition there was NO other choice except O Line in this draft....In fact they should stick with O Line in the 2nd taking a guard (even moving up if possible to take Bitonio or S'ua-Filo). It all starts with the O Line and getting RT protection not the lowest league avg. protection time in the pocket he had last year).....which opens everything else up.

So....if you can't continue to support team then SEE YA!.....pack your sh*t and GTFO!

You must have went to public school as your reading comprehension sucks. Again I have been a Fin fan for over 36 years. So if I was to "cut and run" as you put it I would have done when Shula left as that is how long it has been since this team has been exciting and shown they want to put points on the board and be exciting to watch. Minus a few stints with Ricky on our team this team has been a snoozer. The going has gotten tough for many many years. As for jumping back on the bandwagon, I don't think so. While there will always be a special place in my heart for the Dolphins, I cannot continue watching our management pick players like this year in and year out. I want to be excited about my team and their players not say to myself here we go again. Taking linemen, LB, and DB's with every pick year after year, and ignoring the players that put points on the scoreboard, and passing on them time and time again.

LOL. I'm far from being the homer here. But I understand MIA's problems and have always believed you build your team from the inside out.

Also, Ireland for as bad as you make him out to be. Was not unemployed for long. He was working last night in the defending Super Bowl Champions war room, as a draft consultant.
And Hickey was hired to do a job, and that job was to fix the oline. It is that simple. And guess what...look for more of the same tonight. Why? Because this team still needs more oline help. Its not rocket science.

Also, I understand the Dolphins need oline help, but lets remember they drafted a guy by the name of Jonathan Martin two years ago and how did that turn out? He was a below average RT his first year. So just because you draft oline, that doesnt mean that player will help or become good. He could turn out to be a bust.

Id like to see an RB in this draft but seeing as you don't need to draft one highly for him to be good I'm happy to go OL. I'm always more excited to add an athlete than a big man in the first round just because they make an impact much easier to see on TV, but we could win today with the skill players we have, while we couldn't with the OL. We picked a guy who ideally would have gone a couple picks lower. Ideally we would have gotten a top tackle by KC offering Albert for less during the draft last year, but we didn't get our guy and ended up having the offensive line completely derail the entire season and maybe stagnate/setback our young QB's career a la David Carr. In the end you have to get the pieces you need to win games on Sunday. Having a WR like Cooks wouldn't have mattered if our QB is lying on his back.

Pretty easy for anyone at QB to prove this when they're running for their life and trying to avoid sacks due to an anemic O Line who couldn't give him hardly any time in the pocket.....thanks to their "protection scheme" Tannehill was sacked 58 times.....and if you ranked his hurries, dumpoffs, throwaways, etc. I'm sure he'd be at or near the top in those categories thanks to our Swiss Cheese protection.

My point is you don't draft oline just to draft oline or any position for that matter. The BPA at 19 wasn't James, it would have been Denard or Nix. I would have gone that route or traded back instead of taking James at 19. When you start reaching for players, that's when you have busts.

I don't think anyone should be going overboard about the pick, but man I couldn't disagree more with you. The fact that their job is on the line means were going to see reaches and safe needy picks because if they don't get it right, they're gone. Theres just no way that they had James rated as a better overall player than Brandin Cooks, no way, but they couldn't take Cooks because if all the tackles that fit their scheme were gone Tannehill would get killed again and they would all be fired. So having guys with their job on the line is not always a good thing.
