I think Miami keeps 6 receivers on the final roster this year, Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Matthews, Jarvis and Hazel. If Hazel struggles and Binns returns healthy Binns could have a shot.
This was the question I posted on this forum as soon as Landry was picked: "what does this mean for Brandon Gibson?" I love Gibson as much as everyone else, but here are the facts: Miami drafted a SLOT receiver in the 2nd round (Gibson was Miami's slot receiver last year); WR was not a need (yet Miami drafted one anyway b/c they couldn't pass up such a great prospect); Gibson is coming off a serious injury; and cutting Gibson would save Miami some cap dollars.
In other words, it wouldn't shock me at all if Gibson were cut now that Landry is aboard. If Miami kept Gibson, how would they work their WR rotation? You know that Wallace, Hartline, and Gibson would be the starters. This means that Landry would probably be the 4th WR they'd have to squeeze in with Gibson. I guess that's possible, but I'm thinking that Gibson may be released...especially if Landry comes up big during training camp/pre-season.
I thought Gibson played well last year. I can understand cutting him if he cant return to form after injury, but cutting a decent WR to save a couple million dollars? I'm not so sure about that. I see Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Landry as the top 4, with the rest fighting it out for #5.
He was our best WR before he got hurt. This is BS!
We better not, he was Tanney's only reliable redzone threat...well besides clay, but I thought Gibson seemed to be the wr Tannehill was most comfortable with. Guy has great hands. Although I will concede he has a spotty injury past.
Has anyone considered if Brian Hartline is worth trading to a team like Cleveland? Im not advocating for it but it seems possible given our depth and their lack of thereof. Does anyone know Hartline's cap number for the next 2 years?
Everyone last year was saying we are SET, SET, SET at WR and look how far in the season that lasted. We are set for this year and can plan to move wallace in 2015. Someone will need a WR and will be willing to give us a good player in exchange before it is all said and done, too.
You. Never. Have. Enough. Skill. Position. Offensive. Players. Burn that thought into your heads.
