Breer: Dolphins plan to add Manning AND Tannehill

So when are we interviewing Luck? Since he's going to pull an Eli/Elway on the colts and demand to play for the fins. :D

GOOD.

And we better make Tannehill follow Peyton around everywhere like a puppy dog to learn everything he can.

i like him, but i am not sold on Tanny being a franchise QB. I like his athleticism and movement in the pocket for being a QB for only a few seasons, but his small hands worry me. He sometimes has trouble picking up pressure and being a "dual threat" qb, he needs to hold on to that ball. i also dont like how the few times i watched him play i noticed him staring down WR. i feel that if we sign Manning, we should try to move up for Blackman, or draft to improve a hole on defense. Tannehill would probably still be a 2nd round QB prospect had Barkley and Jones came out this season. 8 is too early and there are too many players who will contribute right away who will be available.

Tannehill looks to lock onto receivers and makes bad throws... I like the athleticism, but I rather go with a better QB for Peyton to groom. This kid just doesn't have it all.

Dream scenario: sign Peyton Manning, then draft Barkley next year..........OMG

would be harder to get Barkley next year than RG3 next year in probability. Barkley may be number one pick next year

If they think Tannehill is the future following Manning then you take him at 8. Tannehill is far ahead of Cousins as far as potential goes. Keep in mind that if Manning does indeed sign, you can forget picking in the top 20 let alone the top 8. This could very well be the best opportunity. I'll trust Philbin and Sherman on this.

This is the sensible, smart thing to do. If they pull this off, I'll begin to have a new found respect for Ireland & Ross. It'll help alleviate my built up pessimism with this franchise.

I hate to be picky but there is no way Tannehill is worth the 8th pick.
He's worth it. It's simple supply & demand. Potential franchise QBs are rare and very valuable. As raw as he is, he won't last long strictly based on potential and the position he plays. Look at the last handful of QBs who won the superbowl. You HAVE to have a franchise guy to win there or even get to it, with very few exceptions.

Here is how I see the conversation going with Manning;

Manning- Steve, Jeff before I sign a contract tell me what your draft stategy is.

Steve & Jeff - We are going to draft a QB with our 1st pick to sit and learn from you for a few years, ....

Manning - Sound of door closing as he leaves the room.

Is that before or after Ireland asks him if his mother is a prostitute?
