Brian Baldinger thinks we struck out on daniel thomas

Might as well cut him. He's hopeless

He hasnt played 1 reg season down and already Baldinger thinks he is a bust. Wonder if the media's hate for our team will just permeate every single lingering doubt and turn it into a worst case scenario.

Reggie Bush didnt run for 150 yards...bust
Daniel Thomas hasnt played...bust
Brain Daboll has 2 questionable pay calls...terrible hire.

I dont give a **** or a **** what these freakin people have to say

If Brian Baldinger said that he loves D Thomas then everyone would be saying how smart he is.

In other news, Ronnie and Ricky are still rated better (and faster) then D Thomas.

I agree with Baldi. Everything I saw at K state was not impressive. He just doesn't look like a power back. I don't know that he will be a bust, but I don't hold out a lot of hope. Saying all that though I know full well that this is just an opinion and he very well could develop into a player.

Ronnie stuggled this past weekend though, 4 carries for 7 yards with a long of 8 yards. Ricky was much better with 12 carries for 63 yards, long of 26.

By the way, I asked NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger what he thinks of Thomas. Baldinger a former NFL offensive lineman studied all the draft picks this year.
"Is Daniel thomas going to help this football team? I don't think so. I think they missed on him," Baldinger said.
Why?
"He's a point of entry back which means he needs a hole to make yards rather than be good enough to make the hole himself," Thomas said. "He runs too upright. He's not going to give you anything on third down and he doesn't run with power. He has to build speed to get power. He's not going to push the pile. So I think he's going to be a very limited back for the Dolphins

Well since Brian Baldinger says so..

Same body type, speed and running style of JJ Johnson. He was the first one I thought of when Thomas was drafted.

I disagree with both of you guys: JJ Johnson 6013 (6'1.3") 227 combine 40 4.71 (had previoulsy run a 4.68). Daniel Thomas 6002 (6'0.2") 230 combine did not run, pro day 40 low 4.52 high 4.62.

Thomas is more than an inch shorter, three pounds heavier, and MUCH faster than Johnson. As far as running style, it might be said that they both have an "upright" running style, but other than that i can't comment as to any similarities between their games. I think Thomas will turn out to be nothing like JJ Johnson. Throw in that Thomas was projected to go in the 2nd round and Johnson was projected to go late 3rd early 4th round. Two totally different backs.

I'd be looking very seriously at the talent scout who worked on Thomas. We need to see what the kid has to offer, but there were a string of negatives written on this player for anyone to read in several draft magazines that all flagged the same concerns mentioned by Baldinger, and we still move up to get him. I concluded that our purveyors of talent knew something that the draft reporters didn't know. The Head Office has a lot to answer for because the obvious cheap insurance was to keep either Ricky or Ronnie as a backup.
If DT doesn't pan out, heads should roll on this one. No ifs, buts or maybes.

I think we struck out on Thomas too.

That doesn't mean I'm right, nor does it mean I'm wrong.
Certainly he's worth more time to develop and see if he can
be the player we need him to be.

So far I really haven't seen anything out of him that would
show the scouting report on him wrong. That doesn't mean
he won't improve.

Well I can tell you one thing with the O-line in the state it is now, the only back in the history of the NFL with a shot would have been Barry Sanders.

I didnt like the pick myself but the kid hasn't even played one down in a real game yet. Let him prove himself one way or another.

Then resign him when we realize our other RBs are **** (except Bush).

what other backs? lol we dont have any backs on the roster. only brought 3 to camp. guess we are phasing out the position.
