Brian Baldinger thinks we struck out on daniel thomas

They will forever regret passing on Mark Ingram, I agree, but seriously, this thread is ****ing ridiculous. The guy hasn't even carried the ball in a meaningful NFL game yet. Not one carry. Chill out. Let's see what he can do when fully healthy. As long as he can show some promise going forward that's a plus. This isn't exactly the best season to judge rookies given the limited time they had during the offseason with their respective teams.

everybody in here was high on jones. and we certainly could have had him

I wasn't. In fact, I don't know many who were. The guy was injury prone and a fumbling machine against guys who will end up working at Wal-Mart.

I feel sorry for all these college athletes. Their only career options are the NFL or Wal-Mart.

I really just was not a fan of grabbing a center with 15. I was always with RB (ingram in round one), than get an OL. or a trade down and nab an OL and another pick.
lots of runningbacks out there I would have rather had than daniel thomas.

I agree with the thought process that the kid hasn't even played a meaningful down yet though, the jury HAS to still be out. I'm willing to give the kid a chance. we're stuck with what we got, so we better hope they all show progress.

It RTBS - and without the benefit of a Ouija Board, that's the bottom line. Check back in January for the results.

I think not having a full offseason of OTAs, TCs, etc.. really hurt Thomas this year. I think he will be much improved next year. I dont agree that we missed, way tooooooo early ot tell. Baldinger may end up beign right, but he is guessing right now. If is a legit talent evaluator he would be working as one.

In one month (we could call that a training camp) he should be fine then right? He will have had his training camp, everyone can be in condition and we can stop that line of thinking. Certainly by mid October, the NO OTA TC excuse can be shelved.

Sure cause Thomas has played a regular season game right.. dumb fks. We have to wait and see

His concerns are valid but his assumption that he won't amount to anything because of them isn't a very good one. He didn't focus on any of his positives whatsoever.

So what happens when D Thomas plays a game and stinks it up?
Is Baldinger right?

What happens if he sets an NFL rushing record?

What's one game going to prove one way or the other? Not
much really.

Heck, there are still people on this board that think John
Beck hasn't had a fair chance, and, Tom Brady really isn't that good.

Everyone realizes that we have not seen him play a game yet and he averaged 4.3 yards per carry in the preseason right?

Atlanta game...4 carries for 5 yards
Carolina game..12 carries for 52 yards
Tampa game....7 carries for 16 yards
Dallas game.....8 carries for 36 yards

31 carries and 109 yards is NOT 4.3 yards per carry

More like 3.51 yards per carry

And do those numbers look like we have a future star in the making

those were exhibition games and carries, so those numbers don't really indicate much of anything to me regarding his prospects as a pro.
