Brian Billick, Mike Golic agree: Miami Dolphins shouldn’t draft Ryan Tannehill

It doesn't say they shouldn't draft him it says if THEY (the Dolphins) feel he isn't worth taking at the draft position then don't take him just to respond to fan pressure. None of these guys know what the Dolphins think about him so it's all just talk.
 
Just like in Flynn´s case, we have the best people in place to make the right decision on Tannenhill. Sherman coached him in college and he should know what the kid can and can´t do.

The only question I have is, what was exactly Philbin´s opinion on Flynn? Did he think Flynn was the answer at QB and Ireland botched it?
 
Unfair to compare to Russell. Tannehill is a coach's son. He is not the same person. In terms of drafting Tannehill, would not trade up, but many draftniks like him at 8 for Miami. Kiper said he would be terrible for Cleveland, but fit in Miami nicely. He will not play this year. He has to sit. And Miami doesn't need him to play this year. I don't think any of the men quoted are actually saying don't draft Tannehill. They are questioning motives.

true , but if THE FANS don t like whats on the field and the player that the front office picks isnt eletric ,then the fans isnt going to come to the games , bottom line is you got to put talent on the field that both the fans will like and will progress.
 
Ireland is one stubbon guy, for all the criticism, I dont see him trading up just to please media and fans for couple of months. If we dont draft QB and somehow go 10-6 and hit playoffs, Ireland knows the fans would then be on side.

I totally agree. Never the less the only way we will know if they didn't want him is if they pass on him @8. If someone gets antsy and trades above us then there will be 20 threads a day here by people bitching.
 
Two angry bitter broadcasters. Golic that he has been passed over for the Monday Night Football job at ESPN about 10 times and Billick by the fact he won a Super Bowl can't can't get another head coaching job while damn near most former NFL head coaches (and those with rings) gets at least a 2nd chance to be a head coach
 
They said Miami shouldn't take Tannehill if the reason they are is because it would look bad if they didn't. Big difference....On top of that, I couldn't care any less than I do about Mike Golics opinion
 
Tannehill has talent, no question about that. The questions begin after seeing he only started 19 games and made a position switch back to QB late in his college career. Both negative arguments are justifiable, based on past failures of QB's with similar backgrounds to Tannehill. I am on the Tannehill bandwagon, but have been torn due to his lack of experience, position switch and perhaps being the 8th selection in the NFL Draft, where it is better to draft a player that can contribute immediately. I love his potential, and the coaching staff in place has a reputation for developing QB's. If this was still the Sporano coaching staff, I'd be worried about them getting Tannehill developed properly. I trust Sherman and Philbin much more than I could ever say about Sporano. BUT with all that I've said, I can't help get the feeling; IF Tannehill is the guy, he doesn't realize his potential and Miami is back to square one!!!
 
The vast majority of these "expert" analyses about us taking Tannehill boil down to some version of "IF they really like him and think he's a franchise qb, they should take him. If they don't, they shouldn't be pressured into taking him." No s--- Sherlock! Brilliant analysis.

This. The intangibles on Russell were brutal. Only the Raiders really considered him worth a pick. Tannehill is a coach's kid, has a good work ethic, and his intangibles measure out well. The only real comparison is a great pro day and fast rise.
