Brian Billick, Mike Golic agree: Miami Dolphins shouldn’t draft Ryan Tannehill

And there is a reason why Tannehill is getting all this discussion instead of weeden or cousins or osweiler.

It's because the people "in the know" realize that Tannehill is THE THIRD BEST QB in this draft due to intrinsic talent, athleticism and potential. NO ONE ANYWHERE calls for any of the other guys to go #8. NO ONE. THEY are the "projects".... why must we settle for the bottom-feeders at the elite positions?

Weeden would be the higher prospect, but his age has him rated lower. Dont get it twisted. And Tannehill is a project. If you watched any of his games this past year, you would know it. But Youtube is the popular place these days to evaluate such talent. You know kinda like, Patricia White.

We shouldn't draft anyone because of fan/media pressure. I'm starting to think Schefter is on the Rams payroll, he seems to be the one consistently pushing for Miami to trade up to #3. Take Tannehill at #8, don't let a reporter pressure you into trading up.

I'm dead serious. Take a look yourself.

Go through (when you have time) each year starting in 2007. Compare that with other teams like the patriots or other organizations.

Pat White was a total bust. Let's examine that first. Henne was not but he wasn't franchise either.

Go through the years and determine against the best Ted Thompson how many 5th, 6th and 7th stuck with teams.

I'm dead serious. I've seen the numbers and I want this Ireland running my draft.

Brandon Marshall for 2 3rds? We were a sneeze from getting a conditional 5th alal santonio holmes.
Jason Taylor the first time for a 2nd? Ireland.

He's a stud at scouting and would get hired in a minute if our idiot owner ever gave in to the idiot fans (none of which are on this board).

Who cares where he starts out the year? I'm interested in where he finishes. Rookie contracts aren't that big anymore, there isnt as much pressure to start a QB early now. Also, I believe Tannehill could get up to speed fairly quickly in Miami. Isn't it the same offense he ran in college?

It will have some of the same elements in it but I think it's going to be a combination of what Philbin used in Green Bay and what Sherman has used over the years in Green Bay and Texas A&M.

excellent point...

A lot of people love to bash him, but last years draft (His first draft as the GM and not having Bill P over his shoulder) was pretty good one. With the only questionable move being Daneil Thomas, who will have to prove himself this year.

as fun is it is to make fun of Sanchez, I really don't think lack of experience is the reason he's struggled. His big issues are that he crumbles when criticism is dealt to him and he's never had anybody to push him in New York.

How would that be any different in MIA with Tannehill? If he is drafted #8, he is the heir apparent. Period.

As for crumbling, that would be Tannehill in the 2nd half of BIG12 games.

Tannehill doesn't have a problem with criticism though. I can't put all of those crumbles on Tanny though as the whole team underachieved dramatically this year (especially a guy like Jeff Fuller). Yes Tannehill would be the heir apparent, but having a guy like Matt Moore this year (who has proven he can be counted on if needed) is good pushing; especially if we can extend him. There's a difference between having a guy like Moore, who can and will push Tannehill, on the team to having a guy like Mark Brunnell who openly admitted when taking first team snaps that there was no way Sanchez would get pulled for him.

Your assumption is Moore will stay. I don't think he will. Too many other jobs out there, that he could actually compete and win.

As for that TAM team this year. They led 5 games going into half, and lost them. Tannehill throwing crucial 2nd half INTs hurt his team and put them in a bind they couldn't get out of.

Sanchize has a noodle arm, plain and simple. Those idiots in NY drafted him because he's pretty and has a nice name. When his legs are not under him and he can't step in the pocket, he's done. It says something that his passer rating is great when he's working off playaction. On his own merits as a qb, he's weak.

One thing about him is he is tough as nails. He might be lazy, might be babyish but he is tough. That ngata hit in the small of his back last year could've killed him. He shook it off though.

You don't draft a qb in 5th overall because he's pretty and tough though.

If Picking QB's in the draft were an exact science, Tom Brady would never have been taken at #199, and JaMarcus Russell would not have been taken #1. There are a lot of factors that go into making a franchise QB. Some guys can't handle the pressure, or aren't willing to put in the hours to learn the playbook, or they go to a horrible team and after a couple years they are released. Tannehill sound like a sharp guy, who was a pre-med major. Sherman probably knows him better than anyone else...so if Tannehill is the guy he wants, that is ok by me. If someone moves ahead of us and takes Tannehill, then we just move on and fill in the pieces.

I agree with the RT soon, but I just don't see how ou can predict 3rd, 4th and more. I've been looking a lot at AJ Jenkins from Illinois but I have no idea where he goes.

If he was such a great prospect he'd be the 3rd best QB regardless of age. Only reason he's in the discussion is cause of the system that made him look good with a # 1 WR.

That simply isn't true. I've heard it said several times, that he would grade out higher if not for his age.
