Brian Billick, Mike Golic agree: Miami Dolphins shouldn’t draft Ryan Tannehill

so now that we've established that, let's give three options:
1) available at 8th is Claiborne, Coples, Tannenhill
What move do you make?

2) I have a strong feeling Luck won't want to go to Indy. No real evidence, just a hunch and nobody's talking about it.
If he's available I pull a ditka and trade most of my draft to get Luck. He would be too much to pass up.

Anyone agree with this crazy suspicion?

about Luck? No not at all. Only suspicion I have is RG3 doesn't want to play in Indy and that rumor is gaining steam. He declined to work out for them, and reports are that he is really excited about going to Washington. Luck's only problem with Indy was he didn't want to sit behind Peyton.

as for the first option, Claiborne would easily be BPA. I like Coples, and wouldn't object to taking him, but I find myself liking other options. Hell, according to some Melvin Ingram has passed him on several boards.

Andrew Luck will be an Indianapolis Colt. There won't be any kind of drama like that this year. It seems like the course of action is either get Tannenhill at 8, or get a WR/pass rusher/OT in the first, and get Cousins in the 2nd round. (I don't think Weeden will be available by our pick).

if Claiborne makes it past 6, then I'd be floored. in any case Jax would take him at 7.

after Luck, RGIII, Kalil, Claiborne, Blackmon and T-Rich I think the only other blue chippers at their position are Kuechy and DeCastro. I wouldn't have a problem with either.

People actually bring up Mike Golic as if his opinion matters in any way?

I don't think Ireland/Sherman/Philbin are dumb enough to draft Tannehill only because of fan pressure or public perception. As the saying goes, if you let the fans in the stands make your decisions, before you know it, you will be sitting with them.

I don't think so either, but if that guy with the really good hearing who writes the checks butts in, it won't matter how competent they are. :D

He's always talking about what the fans want. Not a good sign. He seems to get his info from the media which is an even worse sign. :(

I'm not so high on cousins. Did my youtube research and not that thrilled with his armstrength. Brock is my guy.

I can't stop thinking about Claiborne and if he's available. If he's not, I trade down a few spots to get a quality DE. Mid-late 1st might have still some good talent.

No tannenhill. Fans want him. I don't.

I dont understand all the emphasis on not playing much in college

not bringing this player up to start anything Jets related but just because he is an example in the division we play twice a year, but as well all know Sanchez had 1 year starting in college (good or bad) regardless it was still 1 season of starting at the college level, even though Tannehill started only a year in college he did start at another position, one that most directly related to the Qb, he wasnt just some scrub extra WR they desperately needeed to fill a spot, he led them in receptions, he was on the field getting experience even though not specifically at the QB spot

lack of experience yes would come into play if he was supposed to be the starter day 1 2012 season, but he will most likely sit

Mark Sanchez is a bust. I wouldn't use him as a reason to take Tannehill in the first round.

Furthermore, the reason Tannehill was a WR was because he wasn't good enough to even be a backup QB to Texas A&M's starter his first two years. Again, his being a WR isn't a reason to take Tannehill in the first round.

I agree. Markie has too fragile a psyche too. I just think the system they're installing requires much study and he can't start right off the bat. Look at Cutler. he started late in the year and struggled mightily. That's Cutler though. He had a cannon.

Similar situation and that's why I want Brock.

By the way, it is so refreshing to hear sound-minded dolphin fans speak intelligently about football. Not those crazy bag-headed idiots protesting outside the dophins headquarters.

Ireland/Philbin (in my opinion) is the best marriage of GM/HC in the last 36 years I've been watching. We have a lot of lost years and I feel very good about this team. I guess we'll see though. Give'em a chance, Ross!

Why we listen to bill fans coming in here and playing "Tar Baby" is beyond me.

"NOOOOOOO!!! Please don't draft Tannehill! Please don't! You'll just RUIN yourselves!"

Schefter is the smart one here. We MUST change the culture in Miami and get this franchise emphasizing QB again. "inside-out" football is DEAD... it was never really alive to begin with.

EVERYTHING in this league revolves around QB. We must take Best Available QB this year. That's the starting point, then build around that position. The other guys are all over the place in every round. QB is the RAREST commodity in this league so we must get one when we can (#8) and deal with other needs later.

SIGN WAKE so we have that need filled and can emphasize QB. ireland is hoping Wake holds out so he can have an excuse NOT to draft QB. ireland must NOT be allowed to Get His Way.

good point. Now how will you react when Tannenhill is a 3rd stringer to start the year. Paying him big money to be barely beat out Pat Devlin? Are you kidding me?

Getting a QB this high is only worth it if he can start right away.

The difference between Tannenhill and Brock is not huge...not worth almost a complete round worth. Both need experience. Both will need to sit for at least a year.

I think tannenhill will be great but when you have 8 gM's saying he's the 18th or 19th best player, you're out of your mind to get him at 8. Again, just my opinion.

If they truly believe he has the makings/potential to be a legit franchise QB then by all means take him at 8 if he's there. However, meeting the cost of moving up to get him would be foolish. As has been proven time and again, there are no guarantees when drafting players. Take him at 8 or the BPA. period.

fair enough. I am just so glad we don't have to deal with Risk Spielman as our GM anymore. That guy would get fleeced every draft. Now we do the fleecing.

If the quotes attributed to Golic and Billick are accurate, they didn't say we should pass on Tannehill. They said that how we look if we pass is not a good reason to just go ahead and draft him.

Big difference.

It seemed to me that Spielman would convince himself the player he was targeting was the next [INSERT HOF PLAYER HERE] and give anything and everything to get them not thinking for one second that they wouldn't be successful and he'll look like a genius. He seemed to fall in love with players in the same way that some teams do after the combine or private workouts. Forgetting what their game tape says and focusing on their track stats instead.
