Brian Flores: Health will factor into whether Tua Tagovailoa starts at QB in Week 11

Because right or wrong. Flores made the call that Tua at 80% or whatever was good enough to be the emergency QB, but not good enough to be the starter.

In hindsight. Tua was the backup and he came in and helped to lead the Dolphins to a huge upset. If wins and losses are the only thing that matters, would it be fair to say Flores’ strategy paid off and it resulted in a win?
No, because he almost cost us a win and was saved when Brissett got hurt. We never would have seen Tua if that didn't happen. I'm convinced we would have lost if Jacoby played the whole game.

In hindsight Flores' strategy most likely backfires if Brisket doesn't get hurt, brisket would of lost that game, anyone who doesn't feel that way is biased imo.

But It didn’t backfire. The Dolphins won and Flores could’ve put Brissett back in but chose not to.

Enjoy the win. Hopefully Tua goes on a run of staying healthy and playing well moving forward.

We need cut brissett..he is terrible. I have never seen qb take that long throw football.if dolphins stick w Tua they go need good back qb. Because Tua ain't going play 17 game season..

Brissett won’t be on the team next year. He’s painful to watch.

But we need to sign a quality backup no matter the cost because chances are Tua will miss significant playing time.

I just add that but good point..Tua look be part time qb in future..wonder how that going work out

Flores hasn't done a lot right with this QB situation thus far but no issues with his answer here. And given he kept Tua in the game when brissett was ready to go back in makes me consider this situation is more nuanced than a lot of us thought

Ffs we deserve this team and tua to go on a freaking tear and give us hope. Just change the narrative

Ok. If the FO and coach don’t like him, why would they care if he threatened to hold out? (Which he wouldn’t because Tua seems to be a stand up kind of guy).

Tua has ZERO cache at this point. He’s often injured and has been average so far when he’s healthy. He’s not holding out or making any demands whatsoever.

He still needs to prove himself, and I’m sure he knows this.
Can't prove himself on the bench. If he was capable of srarting and being benched why suit up. The MEDIA has already started to tag him as injury prone. Like my oringinal post says he did not fight his way on the field. If Flores is "MARRIED" to Tua he wouldnt be so quick to put the back up on the field. 70% Tua looked better than whatever percent Brisket was. His performance makes the FO decisions look more scatter brained.

Someone told me Brian Flores was calling the defensive plays for the first time this year the last game against the ravens, I don't know where he got that info, but if it that is true, he is definitely worth keeping. The defense was incredible last game against an elite offensive team with a bonafide superstar MVP, and we handled him and them.

If that is the case, I still see potential in him. Maybe he needs to develop still as a coach, as a player would as a player. This is his first time being a head coach.

No, maybe as defensive coordinator…big difference as we’ve witnessed between HC and DC!

The headline is deceptive.

Flores actual quote:

“This situation with Tua. I’ve said many times: He’s our quarterback. We try to protect players from themselves to try to avoid that situation with him banging his finger last night. We’ve got to take it day to day with both players and see how that goes.

But this isn’t like, I think people are trying to turn this into a controversial situation where we don’t want a certain player to play. I try to look out for the best interests of the players individually, the team."

People are reading into this more for the reason that Flores HAS mishandled things in the past.
Your missing the forest for the trees.

It’s not the decision to sit Tua. It’s how wrong we all saw it was once he got in the game.

As I said before, if the game had more meaning, I think Tua would’ve started even while injured. The game meant nothing so why not let your injured QB rest another week?
I don’t get why people say this game meant nothing.

With that win the team as a legit shot at 7-7. They get there, who knows what happens. They lose & the seasons over in week 10.

So far it was the biggest game of the year.

I’m not sure how many teams have ever started 2-7 and made the playoffs, but if there’s more than 1 or 2 if any I’d be surprised. And this year in a 17 game season, it’s gonna take 10 wins to get in, if not 11. Factor in the way the Dolphins have been playing this season and the playoffs are basically a dream.

But, maybe going into the game Flores had one thought process, and by the time Brissett got hurt he had a different one, which is why he made the QB change. I can only speculate as to what Flores was thinking.

Regardless, his strategy paid off because we won, right?

Take a poll of Dolphin players and staff. It meant a LOT

I'm sadly confident MIA won't win 10. The opposing D has no concern about the run and pass pro is nonexistent. No way to overcome a terrible OL
