Brian Xanders interviewing for GM job

Big O has been going of with CK saying that Xanders isn't that good. Does he have any merit to his statements?

GUYS STOP WITH THIS BRIAN XANDERS CRAP IN DENVER, JOHN ELWAY PICKED THE PLAYERS! #TooMuchBadInformationOutThere #DolphinsGMSearch

Orlando Alzugaray ‏@BigOShow 7m

@ckparrot I guess you & will disagree Xander is not ready for MANY REASONS & some of them I can't talk about. #WhatAFreakinJoke

Orlando Alzugaray ‏@BigOShow 7m

It would be a stupid a move. "@UptownReport: @BigOShow We should kiss the ground if we hire Xanders or Licht. Especially Xanders.”

Orlando Alzugaray ‏@BigOShow 1m

@OviedoDolfan Elway & Fox picked the players not Xanders.

Thoughts?

Interesting. Apparently the bad information being put out there would be from this guy. Read below:

In December 2010, Elway expressed interest in working as the Broncos' top football executive, after having dinner with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen. However, he expressed no interest in being a head coach or general manager after Josh McDaniels' firing, saying, "I'm not interested in being a head coach. I'm not interested in being a general manager. I don't have that kind of experience to be able to pick those players day in and day out and such."

Most of the players they're winning with right now were picked by Xander and Xander left after the 2012 season. Elway was hired in January of 2011 so even if you say the 2011 and 2012 drafts were Elway, Xander is still responsible for drafting:
Demaryius Thomas (1st round 2010), Zane Beadles (2nd round 2010), Eric Decker (3rd round 2010), Knowshon Moreno (1st round 2009), Robert Ayers (1st round 2009), Ryan Clady (1st round 2008), Eddie Royal (2nd round 2008), Kory Lichtensteiger (4th round 2008), Peyton Hillis (7th round 2008). All starters or have started/contributed at some point in this league.

He also suckered us into paying two 2nd rounders for Brandon Marshall lol.

Ross interviewed Xanders @ New York. per JLC.

my friend who is a huge broncos fan called Xanders avg and gave a lot of credit to Mcdaniels for all those picks..............................

it still seems like we are getting Farmer

i hear a lot of name calling and inuendo [FH BABY!! :chuckle:] BUT I DONT HEAR ANYONE coming out with any PROOF elway is the one picking all the players in denver!

if thats true, so be it. but, who gave him the pot of talent to choose from? mr ed scouted, worked out and then selected them all [doubtful] or did this xander guy get with scouts and put together the pool of players to give elway? xander IS NOT THE GM IN DENVER, elway is. so that would make sense for xander to gather the talent and submit it to the gm.

i just have NEVER liked the 'old, "we dont want him, he sux. everyone in the nfl hates him. cant say what, or who, but TRUST ME, he is garbage and [place name here] didnt do anything but fetch coffee when he was in [place city here]".

could be right, i dont know. but i will tell you all this, and YOU TO CK, if you cant say what and you cant say by who or where or how or why, then DONT POST IT!!! its dead air. you may be convinced, but how do we not know someone wasnt yanking your chain, feeding you bull so he could go back with his pals and giggle about chumming the media hound and how he went for it hook, line and sinker?

not calling you out CK, its not a flame. but without incidents and facts, IT MEANS NOTHING and all it does is get everyone wound up for nothing.

come back with HERE'S WHAT I KNOW AND HOW I KNOW IT giving web sites, posts, tv show, secret hand shake, his mom, etc.... . otherwise, its just dirt. and its not singling you out CK, a lot of that happens on the boards and it does no good. its not news unless FACTS are givien.

I feel more comfortable with a candidate with prior GM experience. Only downside is that he looks a little like Tony Sparano. I hope he's not a fist pumper!!

I was listening to the Big O on the radio when I was coming home from work and he said that the personnel guys at the combine were laughing at him because Xanders was added to the list of candidates. I personally like Farmer but I just don't understand how every personnel person in the NFL can have any insight on this guy if they haven't worked with him or know him personally. Is everyone making assumptions? What has he done so bad that people laugh?

We seriously need to lock this guy up already before someone else swoops in smfh....

I think they were laughing at big O actually, but that escaped him.

He met with Ross in NYC.

Then what is Ross waiting for? His bio looks impeccable..

I know, he is kinda exactly what we need. Young, fresh face, new methodology, track record of success, 20 years in scouting, GM experience, worked with Elway (can work with strong personalities), improved Lions draft, will go for playmakers high, good guy. What's not to like?

All the boys in the baseball club were laughing at Billy Bean because he was an out of the box thinker but look what he did. You just never know. When Bellicheat was hired by the Pats no one thought they would become a dynasty. My point is it doesn't matter if you have experience of success or no experience we just don't know until a person is given a chance.

If you look beyond the Broncos….

"This year, the Lions had their deepest rookie class in recent memory. First-round pick Ziggy Ansah lead all rookies with eight sacks, third-round offensive guard Larry Warford was named Offensive Rookie of the Year by Pro Football Focus, and the Lions got contributions from Devin Taylor (fourth round), Sam Martin (fifth) and undrafted rookies Joseph Fauria and LaAdrian Waddle."

He drafted a kicker in the fifth round too

Someone else mentioned it, but his biggest advantage is his experience running drafts - successful ones at that. For us as fans.. He can find good O-lineman! Not in the first round!

2010 - 45th pick (2nd Round) - G Zane Beadles
2011 - 46th pick (2nd round) - OL Orlando Franklin
2013 - 65th pick (3rd round) - G Larry Warford
2013 - UDFA - OT LaAdrian Waddle

Other highlights -- WR Demaryius Thomas, WR Eric Decker, TE Julius Thomas, LB Von Miller, LB Danny Trevathan, CB Chris Harris Jr, TE Joseph Fauria, DT Derek Wolfe & DE Ziggy Ansah. This was all over a 4 year period. Clearly he can identify talent all over the field (OL & LB are key for us), except maybe RB and QB. Taking Knowshon Moreno at 12th overall in his first draft as Denver GM is a bit of a black mark, and Osweiler was a poor choice at QB - even with Peyton in house. Luckily we have our QB, so that's not a problem. He's at the top of my (and many others) wish list for GM.
