Broncos WR Rod Smith: "This is the best defense we'll play all season"

The great thing is that this has been such a great defense the last few years too but it hasn't come to immediate light recently. This is because (namely last season), they were spending 75% of the game on the field and getting tired and run down. With Linehans play calling, we were able to keep posession and keep each unit in good health.

Also, I love having confidence in a QB. On 3rd down plays, I wasn't actually nervous. I had a lot of satisfaction in our quality ball control offense.

i assumed he didnt mean any actual players in mind, he was just thinking off the top of his head...he wasnt trying to list players, he was trying to say we have a lot of talent on D

Saban is doing the right things though, he's not saying this is a trap game coming off a high win like Wanny or anything like that. He's taking it like serious business. He is watching everything from the Chiefs games. He's for all I know calling Dick Vermeil...

If Miami can get a win in N.Y. we'll build a mentality of we can win on the road and at home. The Dolphins know they can win at home as in years past (except for 2003, very strange year...), they just need to prove their great on the road.

Hit Penny or Fiedler, force them to throw intermediate passes, run hard to the outsides AND THEN let all hell loose on the Jets corners who hopefully will have been pounded by Ronnie. It's a nice time to use Jessie Chatman...

In this case not sure if Saban can get hold of the team enough to avoid coming out flat against the Jets. We'll see.

The wonderful thing about the continuity of this defense with last year's defense and the defenses previous is WE GUTTED THE FREAKIN THING! We dumped Surtain, Knight, Greenwood, Bowens, Chester, Ogunleye, Marion, Freeman, EVERYONE except for Taylor, Seau, Thomas, and Madison.

The new defense is a lot cheaper compared with the old defense, some younger players, some veterans, good mix...and they're easily as good as anything we've had here before...and time will only tell if they can be better.

The other thing we should consider is picking on rookie SS Kerry Rhodes a bit. He was a 4th rd pick but he looked pretty lost out there today. If we can iso McMichael on him it will really open things up.

As long as we punish Vilma we can score well against their D...

We really need Ronnie to hit Vilma hard...

Damn, look at the Ds they have to play this year. NE, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Buffalo. That is one huge comment.

slightly off-topic but i thought Spragan was a pretty good player

is crowder really doing this well or is spragan just an average LB?

So who are the 5 pro bowlers he was talking about though?

Jason Taylor (obvious)

Zach Thomas (obvious)

Sam Madison (likely)

Kevin Carter (likely)

Lance Schulters? Tebucky Jones? Junior Seau? Keith Traylor? Vonnie Holliday? Channing Crowder? Reggie Howard?

Probably Junior Seau, but IMO Keith Traylor played like a pro bowler too.

Traylor hands down!!

Oh thats important but they have a real strong front 4 as well. We better get a good push up front vs Abe-Leggett/Reed(they alternate based on situation)-Robertson-Ellis. If we dont get our OL blocking those guys gonna be a long day. And they got mauled today as much as any part of that team while KC ran up like 200 rush yards so this is gonna be a real test.

i agree. i like the 24 hr rule.

the lockerroom celebration from the dolphins site was awesome to watch. saban said he wants to give 53 game balls out. then Zack gives the game ball to Saban. it looked like the end of a sappy football movie

if we can go 2-2 with ricky out, we are in fine shape

Calm me a bit optimistic but I'm hoping for 3-1....

I think this is the biggest test now. Carolina in the heat I think we'll find a way to win, because we'll be strong again at home, however N.Y.....

I think Crowder is really doing that well. Even Spragan commented on it after losing his starting job. He said something to the effect of "I understand the move...you have to find a way to keep this kid on the field."
