Browns poach Tyms from the PS

Kaddu confirms he's on the practice squad. Says he's happy to stay in Miami, hopes to work his way back to 53

Josh Kaddu is in the locker room laughing with teammates which means he must have just signed with practice squad after being cut

Brian Tyms was the only WR that could have brought an added dimension to this offense, come playoff time.

Matthews and Gibson are 4.6+ WRs. Slow feet. And Hartline is almost that slow in pads.

Tyms had a burst that would have made teams pay for single coverage on that side.

But if Ireland/Philbin valued Matthews more, then they deserve to lose him.

imo, it was a no-brainer to have Tyms on the 53 and Matthews on the PS. Matthews brings nothing more to the table than what we already have. Possession WRs out the wazoo.

Tyms would have done some damage with Wallace on the other side.

Not to be. Another huge strike against playoff success this year. Can't get OL protection and filled the squad with nothing but possession WRs (except for one high priced FA). And mediocre TEs and RBs.

SMH.

I was a strong supporter of Tyms in camp this year. Good height, speed, athleticism, and body control. May lack strength and definitely is developing experience. He's a guy who has a decent ceiling if he improves with experience. He's not another Marlon Moore, Ankle weights, Marvin McNutt, 7/11 et al., who have no real upside IMO.

Tyms to me has potential, whereas Kaddu doesn't. But that's not the real question. He would needed to have been on the 53. I would have found him a spot. That would have put us at 5 receivers on the 53, which is not obscene.

So true. And book it. It will cost us this year not to have a multi-dimensional threat at WR, to rely on come crunch time. Already teams are sitting down on our possession WRs routes. And neither Hartline nor Gibson are physical enough to play through the contacts and avert INTs. Not to mention turning "covered up" routes into completions.

It hurts -- all our WRs except Wallace are fairly one-dimensional. And TEs and RBs are pedestrian, to date.

and OL. SMH.

This kind of lack of talent makes me less hopeful than even being 3-3.

It's not playoff talent. Close. But not it. And some of us called it in the off-season, when it was still happening and could have been changed.

Thats a head scratching quote. Did you see the hit Gibson took on Sunday? Then got right back up...

In a sense, of Phibin/Ireland can't see the reality that all our WRs are one-dimensional, and this is hurting us, with teams sitting down on our possession WR routes... if they can't see the need to actually have playmakers on the field, and stuck Tyms on the PS instead of Matthews (or someone else) -- if they can't see this, then we deserve what happens. It's so simple. Kinda like fielding a decent OL is pretty simple, actually. All it takes is a right philos0phy of talent acquisition. They had plenty of money and picks. Just not plenty of football acumen.

A roster full of possession WRs and backup OL and mediocre TEs and RBs...

Bummer man.

we wouldn't, kaddu is on the PS so was tyms either could have been poached

Funny how nobody is interested in poaching OL off Miami practice squad.

The practice squad experts never cease to amaze with their usual we'll regret that one some day posts. It's like déjà from earlier in the season.

Good move by Cleveland to be honest. Tyms showed enough this year to make our roster and I was surprised he didn't. Norv Turner loves those tall long loping speed WR's and Tyms fits the bill. If anyone can get some magic out of the guy, I'm pretty sure its Norv Turner. He's already better than Greg Little IMHO.

As for the Dolphins ... we have a couple of young guys we like even better in Matthews and Binns, plus our starting trio, so it's not a huge loss. But, I think he should have made our roster. Once Tannehilll gets a little chemistry with Wallace and starts placing those long balls onto his deep open receivers hands ... we'll be all right. But, until Tannehilll improves his long ball skills, I'm not sure we could get the best out of Tyms anyway.

If he has anything, he will shine in Cle. We didn't really have a spot for him on the active roster. We have bigger fish to fry then losing a WR off the practice squad.
