Browns poach Tyms from the PS

We kept 53 other guys over him so he probably isnt that awesome. No big deal. Every team in the NFL has had 7 weeks to decide if they wanted him over another player on their roster. Now could he develop yes but lets not act like the rest of the nfl sees something that our coaches dont on this guy

In a sense, of Phibin/Ireland can't see the reality that all our WRs are one-dimensional, and this is hurting us, with teams sitting down on our possession WR routes... if they can't see the need to actually have playmakers on the field, and stuck Tyms on the PS instead of Matthews (or someone else) -- if they can't see this, then we deserve what happens. It's so simple. Kinda like fielding a decent OL is pretty simple, actually. All it takes is a right philos0phy of talent acquisition. They had plenty of money and picks. Just not plenty of football acumen.

A roster full of possession WRs and backup OL and mediocre TEs and RBs...

Bummer man.

I saw. And I stand by the quote.

Mathews played to much on the active roster last year to be on the practice squad this year. While I liked Tyms for the reasons you pointed out its interesting that another NFL GM thought that McNutt was more valuable and poached was poached first. We are just one diminisional which has been obvious to me and unless the league has changed then I have been on this pony ride with the Dolphins before with Dan the Man and it did not work then. Offensive line is another subject and it's just amazing the issues we have had with it.

He had much more ceiling than either Hartline or Gibson or Matthews.

No question.

And a much lower floor as well.

For being such a "slow" guy, Hartline sure has a knack for getting open deep.

All that being said, I think we should have rostered him as our fifth receiver. Do we really need rj sanford? Or clabo for that matter?

Good point -- but flooring is one thing that can be developed in a WR.

Ceiling you either got or you ain't.

It's the old, would I rather be "consistent" and fairly mediocre or would I rather take a chance in inconsistency for awhile and potentially achieve greatness?

It wasn't that long ago that the exact same thing could have been said about Ty Hilton -- "lower floor" than Hartline or Bess, so let's not draft him, etc.

That thinking will get you mediocre seasons and few playoff wins.

That is so true and it HURTS to even think about the fact that this isn't fixed. Drafts have been busts for OL [outside first round]. Squarely on GM.

No offense but how does signing our practice squad player signal they are going to trade their best receiver.

Seeing as they are rumored to be receiving tons of offers for Gordon, it's very likely not a coincidence that they have brought in another receiver so their roster is filled if they trade anyone.

Brian Tyms was the only WR that could have brought an added dimension to this offense, come playoff time.

Matthews and Gibson are 4.6+ WRs. Slow feet. And Hartline is almost that slow in pads.

Tyms had a burst that would have made teams pay for single coverage on that side.

But if Ireland/Philbin valued Matthews more, then they deserve to lose him.

imo, it was a no-brainer to have Tyms on the 53 and Matthews on the PS. Matthews brings nothing more to the table than what we already have. Possession WRs out the wazoo.

Tyms would have done some damage with Wallace on the other side.

Not to be. Another huge strike against playoff success this year. Can't get OL protection and filled the squad with nothing but possession WRs (except for one high priced FA). And mediocre TEs and RBs.

SMH.

Rishard Matthews would last approximately 24 seconds on the practice squad before getting poached. Every time he's been given. Chance he's come through. Not sure what you've been watching

Well that just makes your quote completely meaningless as it certainly doesnt apply. Haters are typically completely biased regardless of what reality shows us.

Really, people are upset about losing a PS player....good lord...he wasn't good enough to get picked up when he was originally cut and has sat on the PS this long...no big loss. The Dolphins have 4 good WR's who all seem to be doing pretty well this year.

if something happens to mike wallace and the speed element is gone from the offense you are gonna wish you had tyms back...i know charles clay is gonna wish there was some more speed in the wr core...he's benefiting from the presence of mike wallace more than anyone down the seam etc...

we lose wallace probably looking at 9 in the box ha ha

Do you honestly think Tyms would garner the type of attention that Wallace gets? If Wallace gets hurt, Tyms wasn't going to be the guy to save the season.....

no i don't...but i do think he has the deep speed that would help this unit if wallace was out...i think either way teams will make him prove it though by playing things tighter to the los...

it's not like this team can run the ball even with the safeties deep...

True, but they would go back to looking like they did last season...with a worse o-line and running game...and defense....seriously how do people not see that Tannehill is the only one keeping this team in games....
